According to the report of the Gia Lai Province Civil Defense Command, fishing boat BD 97258 Ts, owned and captained by Mr. Huynh Van Son, born in 1981, residing in Hoai Nhon Dong Ward, Gia Lai, along with 8 other fishermen, fishing for tuna and fishing for the ocean, departed from Ca Na Border Control Station ( Khanh Hoa ) on September 12. At 8:13 p.m. on September 27, while operating in the sea area about 147 nautical miles from Quy Nhon Ward, about 154 nautical miles from Khanh Hoa, the connection signal of the journey monitoring device was lost, the fishing boat lost contact with the family, so the family came to report to the authorities.
After receiving the report, the Standing Office of the Provincial Civil Defense Command inspected the Fishing Vessel Monitoring System of the Directorate of Fisheries. Through inspection from the time of departure to the time of loss of connection, fishing vessel BD-97258-TS operated around the central area of the East Sea, the last position when the connection was lost was 13°04'24"N - 111°41'50"E (at 20:30 on September 27, 2025), about 154 nautical miles from the center of the path of storm No. 10 to the North-Northeast, the vessel was moving at a speed of 02 nautical miles/hour.
The Provincial Civil Defense Command has directed the Tam Quan Nam Border Guard Station to monitor and verify information related to the incident; at the same time, directed units and the Disaster Prevention and Control Watch Station, the Provincial Border Guard to notify and mobilize fishing vessels (4 fishing vessels have been mobilized, including: BD 96433 TS, BD 95414 TS, BD 96337 TS, BD 97397 TS) operating near the area where the BD-97258-TS lost connection to support the search. At the same time, notify relevant functional forces (Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center of Region IV, Central Coast Station, Navy Region 4, Khanh Hoa Provincial Border Guard) to coordinate and participate in the search and rescue.
The Gia Lai Provincial Civil Defense Command has issued a written report and requested the Military Region Command to request the Navy Command, Coast Guard and Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center of Regions II and IV to support coordination in search and rescue of fishing boats that lost contact.
