The "two swords combined" strategy brings Bach Viet sustainable growth

Choosing a slow but steady strategy, developing sustainably both internally and externally, Bach Viet Group has gradually overcome difficult economic periods to move forward. From the position of Top 200 brands winning the Vietnam Golden Star Award 2021, this year, the Group rose to the Top 100 - a worthy recognition for the efforts of the entire Bach Viet team.

BV Group always focuses on charity activities to support students and areas facing many difficulties.

Sustainable development from within

In recent years, “sustainable development” has become a popular concept in the media, a trend that no business wants to stay out of and can stay out of. But with Bach Viet Group Joint Stock Company (BV Group), Mr. Nguyen Tan Thanh revealed to Dau Tu Newspaper reporters that, 14 years ago, the founders identified sustainable development as the path of BV Group.

Holding the position of Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of BV Group, Mr. Nguyen Tan Thanh and Mr. Ta Hoai Hanh (Chairman of the Board of Directors) - a classmate in the same MBA class - chose to start a business in the real estate sector, because both have experience and deep understanding of this industry.

Mr. Thanh still remembers that Bach Viet Lake Garden Urban Area in Bac Giang was the first project that Bach Viet implemented. But instead of choosing to "divide and sell plots" like many investors at that time, Bach Viet wanted to do more "interesting" projects, bringing sustainable value and benefits to all parties involved. They directly hired Singaporean CPG consultants to develop the idea together, then carefully implemented it, choosing each stone and flower bush to realize that idea. Instead of just having plots of land or stacked concrete blocks, Bach Viet Lake Garden was planned with modern traffic, full amenities, a central park, square, lake, flower garden, even green area up to an average of 25 m2/person.

We define real estate for business, based on the principle of harmonizing the interests of all parties. Education is not like that, because the number 1 goal of education is to develop people, not to seek profit.

– Mr. Nguyen Tan Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bach Viet Group Joint Stock Company

“From a stagnant pond, we have created a modern, sustainable urban area, the first model urban area of Bac Giang,” the businessman born in 1967 affirmed.

Following the success of the first project, Bach Viet's later projects are increasingly being improved. Excluding the time for site clearance, the Group only takes 6 - 19 months to hand over houses to customers. In each project, BV Group always takes into account the surrounding amenities, such as traffic infrastructure, social infrastructure (schools, medical facilities), landscape architecture and other factors to ensure smooth operation, maintenance and repair are always economical and optimal.

After a period of stable development in the real estate sector, since 2019, Bach Viet has opened a new field, which is education. The Group launched the Vietschool education system, focusing on training from kindergarten to high school. "We believe that education, not economics, is the root of the country's sustainable development," explained businessman Nguyen Tan Thanh.

In its educational model, Bach Viet pursues a non-profit motto. All profits generated are returned to the school for reinvestment in development and student service; investors receive a profit (if any) equivalent to the bank's savings interest rate.

Mr. Thanh also denied the view that Bach Viet built schools to sell real estate, because up to now, Vietschool projects are not included in any housing projects of BV Group.

For educators like Mr. Thanh and Mr. Hanh, happiness is seeing students progress and become the best, happiest, most joyful versions of themselves. In a recent Robotics competition that Vietschool students participated in, they quietly came to cheer them on.

“The students were always confident and cheerful throughout the competition. Although they did not win many high prizes and had some failures, we were happy that they viewed failure in a very positive way, even comforting other teams. Just that, but I know we are on the right track,” said a representative of BV Group.

With the motto of multi-industry development, in recent years, Bach Viet Group has expanded into the trade and service sector, through a number of specific activities, such as distributing Honda vehicles, electrical and water equipment, labor export, building operation management... Mr. Thanh explained, BV Group chose the "turtle" strategy or "if you want to be fast, you have to be slow" with the goal of sustainable development, firmly consolidating the foundation before expanding, calculating carefully before acting, but when acting, it is quick and decisive.

“No matter what area BV Group chooses to expand into, people are always the factor we put first, more important than any other resource,” said Mr. Nguyen Tan Thanh.

At Bach Viet Group, employees are given the opportunity to learn and develop themselves. Senior positions are always prioritized from the bottom up, limiting recruitment from outside, to ensure cultural understanding and not disrupt the organization.

In 2024, Bach Viet will organize many training activities, including an 8-month mini-MBA training course for managers under 40 years old. In addition, every year, the unit head must sign a commitment on the training duration, to both impart skills and experience and inspire the subordinate staff. "The human resource layers are carefully planned and nurtured, ensuring the sustainable development of the Group," affirmed Mr. Nguyen Tan Thanh.

Sharing difficulties with the community

Not only sustainable growth internally, BV Group also cares about social responsibility through many activities. In 2018, Bach Viet Group established the Blue Moon Charity Fund (Blue Moon Fund), with clear regulations on operating principles, organizational structure, and financial and accounting work.

“The moon is an image associated with purity, innocence, freshness, always close and dear to everyone, especially children; The moon is the most loyal companion, from the past to the present to the future, regardless of space and time; Blue is the color of youth, of faith and hope, understanding and sharing”, a representative of Bach Viet Group explained the name of the Fund.

Instead of doing charity work in a scattered manner, the Blue Moon Fund focuses on supporting students in difficult circumstances so that they can continue to excel, strive to study, and become useful people for society. The Blue Moon Fund has awarded scholarships to nearly 300 students from kindergarten to high school, in provinces and cities from North to South, such as Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Ninh Binh, Dong Nai...

Mr. Thanh further explained that the Blue Moon Fund not only gives scholarships and gifts, but most importantly, there are always "volunteers beside each child, listening, advising, and guiding them throughout the journey."

In the early stages of implementation, BV Group “assigned” staff to sponsor the children, with the hope of awakening compassion in each person. Gradually, love and empathy have quietly spread. Up to now, Bach Viet staff are all willing to participate, to share and encourage the children in a timely manner.

In 2024, despite the difficult business situation, the Blue Moon Fund remains active in all activities. In addition to the Blue Moon scholarship awarding activities, the Fund also supports localities affected by typhoon Yagi with a total value of more than 2 billion VND to rebuild damaged schools. In August 2024, the Fund inaugurated the Sung Dia school (Ha Giang) with a value of more than 1 billion VND to give to local people.

Previously, in 2023, the Fund built and donated Muong Loi school to the people of Dien Bien with a value of more than 2.5 billion VND. Each school is solidly built from classrooms to kitchens, playgrounds, fences, trees and equipment... "What Bach Viet and the Blue Moon Fund can do is just like a small candle, but I hope we can contribute a little effort to spread and join hands to build a more beautiful Vietnamese society", said Mr. Nguyen Tan Thanh.

In 2025, Bach Viet Group is preparing to celebrate its 15th anniversary and is expected to have many breakthroughs in production and business. Bach Viet Group's representative once again affirmed that the sustainable development strategy, focusing on people, will always be the beacon illuminating the path ahead of the enterprise.
