On the morning of September 5, along with the whole country, more than 433,500 students in Quang Tri province eagerly attended the opening ceremony, officially entering the new school year 2025-2026.

In mountainous areas, many schools held opening ceremonies at the main location. From early morning, teachers, with the active support of border guards, went to remote villages to welcome students back to school.

In Huong Lap commune, Quang Tri province, officers and soldiers of Huong Lap Border Guard Station divided into many groups, crossed mountain passes and waded through streams to pick up students. Some children were taken to school by border guards on motorbikes, others were carried by soldiers across flooded streams.

Major Nguyen Minh Tien, Head of Cu Bai Border Control Station, Huong Lap Border Post, said the distance from Cu Bai village to Huong Lap Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities is about 9km, and the road conditions are very difficult. Many streams in Huong Lap commune still do not have bridges for people to cross.

On the first day of the new school year, officers and soldiers of Huong Lap Border Guard Station supported the transportation of 8 students from Cu Bai, Ka Tieng and Cup - Cuoi villages to school. Notably, the border guards crossed Ta Leng stream and carried the students to the opening ceremony.

"At this time, the water level is high, it is very dangerous for students to cross the stream, so officers and soldiers carry the students across the stream. Not only on the opening day but also on normal school days, the station also assigns officers and soldiers to pick up and drop off children over long, difficult distances to ensure safety," said Major Tien.

Huong Lap Border Guard Station is adopting and supporting 9 students with difficult circumstances. Of these, 4 students are part of the project "Army officers and soldiers help children go to school" and 5 students are part of the program "Border Guard Station's adopted children - Help children go to school".

On the eve of the 2025-2026 school year, Huong Lap Border Guard Station organized to encourage and give gifts to students in projects and programs.

To prepare for the opening ceremony and the new school year, the education sector of Quang Tri province also actively implemented many solutions to mobilize students to go to school, especially in mountainous and disadvantaged areas.

At Thuong Hoa Primary and Secondary School, Kim Phu Commune, Quang Tri Province, in early September, teachers stayed in the village and school to clean up, prepare tables and chairs, hang flags and slogans, and prepare for the opening ceremony of the new school year.

Thuong Hoa Primary and Secondary School currently has more than 150 students, all of whom are children of the Chut ethnic group. Teachers also visit each house to encourage parents to bring their children to class on the opening day.

Despite the lack of facilities and the road to the village being cut off in many sections by floods, teachers and students of Thuong Hoa Primary and Secondary School still maintained their spirit of overcoming difficulties and had a solemn and warm opening day.

For Chut students, the opening ceremony is not only a festival of knowledge but also a hope for the future.

At Con Co special zone, Quang Tri province, the opening ceremony also took place in a joyful atmosphere. Con Co currently has 1 kindergarten class with 13 children and 1 primary school class with 7 students, of which 3 students are sponsored by Dan Tri newspaper until the end of primary school.

Teacher Le Thi Thuy Linh, in charge of Hoa Phong Ba Kindergarten, Con Co special zone, said that due to the geographical conditions of being 18 nautical miles from the mainland, life for the islanders and teachers and students is still difficult. Con Co has a service boat but the schedule is not fixed, depending on the weather and the number of people traveling.
