Facebook "incident" interrupted on the night of March 5th makes users worried
"My customers mostly close orders through Facebook. Many regular customers often accumulate several orders and pay at once. I lost sleep worrying about losing my Facebook account, not knowing how I would sell or do business. When I calmed down this morning, I also had to consider switching to Zalo as a backup in case I encountered a similar problem and lost all my customers and money," Ms. Hoan shared.
In a similar situation, Ms. Thuy Linh (Hanoi) could not contact her relatives abroad via Facebook messages. "While surfing Facebook, my account was suddenly logged out on both my computer and phone. When I re-entered my password, it said it was incorrect. When I sent an email to retrieve my password, I received a message saying there was an unexpected problem. I sent a password reset request but it did not work. At that time, I was worried about losing my account and then being texted to ask for a loan. Luckily, it was just a global Facebook problem."
Beware of Facebook recovery services
According to cybersecurity expert Vu Ngoc Son, Technology Director of Vietnam National Cyber Security Technology Company (NCS), in just the past few days, there have been two consecutive incidents with Facebook, the world's largest social networking platform.
"First was the 0-day vulnerability that allowed hackers to remotely take control of accounts without user intervention. Then came the global Facebook network outage on the night of March 5. Although Facebook has been restored, users need to be extremely vigilant against "copycat" services whose goal is nothing more than to scam and attack users," Mr. Son warned.
According to Mr. Son, normally, hackers will be very "sensitive" to events like this, there will be many forms of imitation such as "instructions for logging into Facebook when encountering errors", "the fastest way to recover passwords" ... are given. If not careful, users can follow the instructions and access fraudulent websites, thereby losing account information and passwords.

To avoid fraud, expert Vu Ngoc Son said: "In all situations, users need to stay calm. If users suddenly cannot log in to their Facebook account, slow down a bit, do not rush to find a way to log back in or recover the password immediately, but can ask more of your friends if they have encountered the same phenomenon. If many people encounter it, we should wait for the service provider to issue a notice and resolve the problem."
Cyber security expert Ngo Minh Hieu (Hieu PC) also warned about the risk of fraud related to Facebook. Mr. Hieu emphasized: "Criminals will not hesitate to fabricate stories, take advantage of users' psychology and trust to steal accounts, passwords, and other personal information. The most important thing is to stay calm, do not easily trust anyone or any unclear service, to avoid falling into traps and losing money unjustly."
According to Mr. Hieu, users should be careful and not believe in unverified information on the internet, especially fake news. This can lead to loss of money or personal information, especially when encountering scammers offering to deposit money into "fake" Facebook account recovery services.
Always stay vigilant and follow security measures
The National Cyber Security Monitoring Center (Ministry of Information and Communications) also warns users when detecting unusual signs on Facebook. Accordingly, users should change their passwords and use a strong password, including uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and special characters.
Next, report the incident via social media or other means of communication such as phone, email. Inform your friends and family members about the situation and warn them not to trust or respond to scam messages.
Additionally, always stay vigilant and follow basic security measures like enabling two-factor authentication, not sharing personal information and passwords with anyone, not clicking on unknown links or suspicious messages, and updating security software regularly to avoid security vulnerabilities.
