To help people cope with natural disasters and minimize damage to people and property, police forces in communes and wards in the province are working hard to support people.

With the motto "Better at home than in the fields", on September 28, nearly 50 officers and soldiers of Van Xuan Commune Police and the Security and Order Protection Team at the grassroots level, together with military forces, youth and women of the commune, urgently went to the fields to race against time to harvest rice to help the people of Na Men village harvest in time, protecting the fruits of labor from the impacts of natural disasters. The extremely urgent and responsible working atmosphere of the functional forces quickly spread to households in the area. Many families, due to difficulties in human resources, especially households with elderly and single people, were very moved and expressed their deep gratitude for the timely support of the Commune Police force.

Captain Nguyen Hong Khang, Head of Van Xuan Commune Police, said that before the storm made landfall, the Commune Police had consulted with the Party Committee and authorities and coordinated with forces to inspect and review key areas at risk of flooding and landslides to both develop and implement response plans and organize the relocation of assets for dozens of households in dangerous areas to safe places. At the same time, the unit coordinated to review the crop areas of households at risk of flooding and damage due to the storm to propagate, mobilize and help people harvest.

Proactively responding to storm No. 10, Lam Son Commune Police proactively advised the Commune People's Committee to mobilize all forces to focus on implementing storm prevention and control measures. Particularly, the Commune Police force, since September 27, has mobilized 100% of officers and soldiers to participate in storm prevention and control, in which working groups have been established to go directly to key areas to coordinate with forces participating in protecting security and order at the grassroots level and local forces to support people in tying down their houses and preparing to respond to the storm.

Through inspection and examination at 27 villages in the area, Lam Son Commune Police identified 3 frequently flooded areas, including: the gate area of Sugar Factory No. 2 on Ho Chi Minh Road, which is often deeply flooded; Bau slope area in village 7, where water often overflows the road surface; Quyet Thang 1 village, adjacent to Chu River, where the water level is currently rising due to Ho Cua Dat dam releasing floodwaters with a flow rate of 1,500 to 3,200 m³/s. The Commune Police have deployed vigilance measures and are ready to evacuate households when necessary.

At these key points, in addition to regularly monitoring the situation and developments of storms and floods, with the motto of ensuring people's safety above all, Lam Son Commune Police have first of all arranged forces to be on guard 24/7 at flooded areas, put up warning signs and organized traffic guidance to ensure people's safety.

In addition, in Lam Son commune, there are also some dangerous landslide spots such as village 8 (old Thuy Long) and a household in village 3 located in a high-risk area. To ensure the safety of people's lives and property, on the night of September 27, the police force propagated, mobilized, and supported households to evacuate people and property to a safe place. Particularly in Quyet Thang 1 village, on September 28, the authorities and the commune police force organized the emergency evacuation of 10 households with 33 people, and continued to closely monitor the situation to be ready to evacuate 20 more households in case the floodwaters continued to rise.

In Ngoc Son ward, the ward police force has urgently taken action, mobilized maximum force, accompanied the government and people to synchronously deploy storm prevention and control measures. Ngoc Son ward police have advised local Party committees and authorities to develop response plans, assigned forces, and are ready to handle any arising situations. In particular, the top priority task is to ensure the safety of people's lives and property above all. Ngoc Son ward police have urgently reviewed and proactively developed plans to handle arising situations during storms. At the same time, the unit coordinated with local forces to propagate and mobilize households living in temporary housing areas, coastal areas, near degraded structures and fishing households living on fishing boats to urgently evacuate to a safe place.

Currently, Ngoc Son Ward has a total of 405 rafts, ships, and boats for fishing. Before storm No. 10 made landfall, the Ward Police coordinated with the Ward Civil Defense Command and Lach Ghep Border Guard Station to regularly maintain contact with ship owners, update the situation, and guide ships to safe shelters. As of the morning of September 28, 162 fishing boats and rafts operating near shore had been anchored locally, the remaining 243 fishing boats had returned to anchor at fishing ports and concentrated storm shelters.

Along with ensuring the safety of ships and boats, the evacuation of people under the direction of the Provincial People's Committee was also urgently deployed. The ward police presided over and coordinated with the ward Military Command, residential groups, shock forces, and the ward Fatherland Front to support the evacuation of residents in high-risk areas. All residents were arranged to go to the office of the Hai Chau Ward People's Committee (old), the Cultural Houses of residential groups, and high-rise buildings of relatives to ensure safety. As of noon on September 28, a total of 62 elderly people, children, and single-parent households had been brought to safe storm shelters. Currently, the evacuation is still being carried out in residential areas at risk of being unsafe.

Among the evacuated people, Mrs. Trinh Thi Chu is an elderly person (97 years old) living in a level four house in a low-lying area with a high risk of flooding. When the police arrived to evacuate her, Mrs. Chu was still wondering what to bring. Thanks to the timely support, her family was taken to a safe shelter.

With a proactive, urgent and determined spirit, Thanh Hoa Police force is working with local Party committees and authorities to make the greatest efforts to prevent, combat and minimize damage caused by storm No. 10.
