The technology was previously used in the US to tackle scam ads and help recover hacked accounts. Since March 2025, Meta has been using facial recognition to support users in these new regions. According to the report, the number of fake celebrity ads has decreased by 22% in the first half of the year.

DeepSeek Launches “Sparse Attention” Model to Halve API Costs

On September 29, DeepSeek announced a new experimental model called V3.2-exp, which uses Sparse Attention techniques to optimize long-context processing. The system consists of two main components: a “lightning indexer” that selects important text segments and a “fine-grained token selection” that filters out the necessary tokens, significantly reducing server load.

Initial testing shows that API call costs can be reduced by up to 50% for long-context tasks. The model is released for free on Hugging Face, with the promise of independent peer review from the research community soon.
