Within the framework of the series of events "The 1st Vietnam - China Literature Exchange in 2025", the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, Chi Culture Joint Stock Company (Chibooks) in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology (HUFLIT), Beijing University of Foreign Studies (Vietnam Research Center) and partners announced the launch of the 1st Vietnam - China Literature Translation Competition.
Time to receive the first Vietnamese - Chinese literature translation test is from today (September 22, 2025) to November 10, 2025. Candidates scan the QR code to register for the test.

The contest is open to students majoring in Chinese language in Vietnam who are good at Vietnamese-Chinese translation; students majoring in Vietnamese in China; Vietnamese students studying in China and freelance translators who are good at Vietnamese-Chinese translation (with less than 3 years of translation experience and having translated at least 1 book).
Contestants will choose to translate typical contemporary Vietnamese and Chinese poems or short stories (no more than 1,000 words) from the list of works provided by the organizing committee. Entries will be evaluated based on accuracy, coherence, and literary quality.
Entries will be posted on websites, social networks... of universities, units participating in organizing the contest, on the websites of the Chinese Writers Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association.
The jury consists of famous writers and translators from Vietnam and China, professors and doctors teaching Vietnamese and Chinese languages belonging to the Organizing Committee.
Promoting Vietnamese - Chinese literature
The submission period is from today (September 22, 2025) to November 10, 2025. The award ceremony is expected to take place on November 21, 2025 at HUFLIT and Beijing Foreign Studies University (combined online and in-person). The Organizing Committee will award 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 4 third prizes and 10 consolation prizes with attractive prize values to the winners.
Of which, with 2 first prizes, the winner receives 6 million VND/prize in each category of Vietnamese - Chinese, Chinese - Vietnamese translation.

2 second prizes (4 million VND/prize) awarded to Chinese students majoring in Vietnamese. 1 second prize (4 million VND/prize) awarded to Vietnamese students majoring in Chinese. 1 second prize (3 million VND/prize) awarded to Vietnamese high school students majoring in Chinese.
1 third prize (2 million VND) for a Chinese student in the Chinese-Vietnamese translation category. 1 third prize (2 million VND) for a Vietnamese student majoring in Chinese in the Vietnamese-Chinese translation category. 1 third prize (1 million VND) for a Vietnamese high school student majoring in Chinese. And 10 consolation prizes (each prize worth 500,000 VND).
The Vietnam - China Literature Translation Competition is an activity to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China, creating an academic playground for students, international students and the community who love literature and language. The competition helps to improve literary translation skills, foster knowledge and love of literature of the two countries, contributing to promoting the image and position of Vietnamese - Chinese literature domestically and internationally.
