On the evening of July 7, a representative of the People's Committee of Hoa Xuan Ward ( Da Nang City) said that they had established an interdisciplinary inspection team to verify the incident where people reported that vermicelli had turned an unusual red color.

Specifically, on the same morning, immediately after receiving the complaint, the People's Committee of Hoa Xuan Ward urgently established an inspection team including the police, the health department, village officials and related units to go to Ms. L's house (the complainant) to verify the incident. At the scene, the team recorded that the remaining vermicelli had changed color as reported.

The color-changing vermicelli noodles were sampled and tested by the authorities of Hoa Xuan ward.

Through initial verification, Ms. L. bought vermicelli from a retailer in front of the old Hoa Chau market. This seller imported goods from a vermicelli production facility in Hoa Xuan ward. According to the ward representative, the facility produces about 200 - 300 kg of vermicelli per day, distributing to many small traders in the area.

Through document inspection, the production facility has complete legal procedures and ensures food hygiene and safety conditions.

The inspection team took samples of vermicelli at Ms. L.'s house and at the production facility to send to the Testing Center (No. 1 Phan Thanh, Da Nang City) to check food safety indicators and determine the cause of the discoloration. The vermicelli samples were stored and will be sent for testing on July 8.

In addition, the owner of the production facility also proactively brought samples of rice used to make vermicelli for testing and coordinated with authorities to clarify the cause.

The officer in charge of culture, society and food safety of the People's Committee of Hoa Xuan ward said that through actual inspection, the vermicelli sample had no strange smell, normal texture but the color turned slightly red, causing concern for consumers.

"We are working closely with relevant units to clarify the incident and will promptly inform the people," said the officer.

Previously, as reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , Ms. L. (residing in Hoa Xuan Ward) said she bought noodles at Hoa Chau Market at around 9am on July 6 for lunch. Her family of 5, including a 2-year-old child, used this portion of noodles.

That evening, when she brought the remaining noodles to her son, she discovered that the noodles had changed color, from white to slightly red. The noodles were kept in a basket, not in the refrigerator.
