Saigon University proposes to invest 342 billion VND to build a research and training building for microchip industry

Saigon University (SGU) proposed to invest 342 billion VND from the Ho Chi Minh City budget to build a building for scientific research and training in semiconductor microchip industry.

Saigon University has just submitted a proposal to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to invest more than 342 billion VND to build a building for scientific research and training in semiconductor microchips.

According to the proposal, the building includes 2 basements, 10 floors above ground with a height of 46 m. The total proposed investment is 342.5 billion VND, from the City budget.

Implementation period from 2024-2027, of which project preparation period from 2024-2025.

The school believes that investing in the construction of a building for scientific research and training in the semiconductor industry is very necessary and urgent in the current period before the rapid changes of the 4.0 technology revolution.

Moreover, the project construction is very convenient as the land for building construction is located within the school campus so there is no need for site clearance.

The construction area already has an existing electrical system, water supply and drainage system, traffic system, etc. Therefore, it will ensure that when constructing the project, it will be fully connected to the general technical infrastructure of the area.

Regarding planning, the Project is also consistent with the planning for the development of the education and training sector of Ho Chi Minh City and consistent with the regional construction planning.

Project construction is in accordance with the investment plan and does not overlap with project programs that have had investment policy decisions or investment decisions.

Once completed and put into operation, the project will meet the school's needs for facilities and modern equipment to serve the learning, research and creative activities of lecturers and students in the research and training of semiconductor microchips.

Recently, speaking to investors at the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, Mr. Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that the City aims to become a center for the development of the semiconductor industry and a center for science, technology, and innovation in the country, competing regionally and internationally.

To achieve the set goals, the City Government continues to research and further develop science and technology infrastructure, investing more in facilities serving high-tech industries, including the semiconductor industry.
