Building Da Nang into a green, smart, livable city

Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh emphasized this content at the conference summarizing international integration and cooperation work in the 2021-2025 period, and orientation for the 2025-2030 period organized by the City People's Committee on the morning of September 26.

Attending the event were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Anh Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Ngo Xuan Thang, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh; along with Ambassadors, representatives of diplomatic missions, consular agencies, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and business associations.

Concluding the conference, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh emphasized that the 1st City Party Congress, term 2025-2030, determined the goal by 2030 to build Da Nang into a growth pole of the country, a pioneer in science - technology , innovation, digital transformation; with a vision to 2045 to become an ecological, smart city, a center of finance, free trade, industry, logistics, innovative startups and Asian-class tourism.

With that spirit, the city's leaders pledge: the city thoroughly understands the viewpoint that international integration is the task of the entire political system.

Accordingly, the city established an International Integration Steering Committee, directly developed action programs, removed difficulties, promptly directed major policies, helped grassroots levels proactively integrate, and innovated thinking from "participation" to "proactive, active contribution and initiative proposal".

The city leverages international resources and promotes economic diplomacy with new motivations. With increased potential after the merger, Da Nang affirms that it will quickly complete the operating mechanism of the International Financial Center and Free Trade Zone, create an open investment environment, encourage public-private cooperation, and expand regional and international connections.

Promoting local brands through cultural values, creating new spaces; building the brand "Da Nang - international tourism center", connecting the heritage of Hue - Hoi An - My Son, where the heritage journey will become a tourist highlight.

At the same time, mobilize the strength of the entire people and the entire political system to participate in international integration and cooperation. The city focuses on three strategic pillars: creating superior advantages with high technology, high-quality tourism and synchronous infrastructure development; green and sustainable development; mobilizing international financial resources such as World Bank, ADB, JICA to develop green infrastructure.

The ultimate goal is to build and position Da Nang to become an international city associated with the image of a "Green, smart and livable city", with high competitiveness in the Asia-Pacific region.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Anh Tuan highly appreciated the conference theme: "Da Nang: New space, new driving force, striving for integration and development", showing the strategic vision of Da Nang in the new period.

The city's initiative to organize a conference on integration right after merging with Quang Nam demonstrates its innovative thinking and determination to affirm the country's position as a new growth pole.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Da Nang needs to take advantage of the historic opportunity from the merger to develop into a regional economic, cultural and innovation center; promote economic diplomacy, promote local culture, attract international resources and build a safe and integrated living environment.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that it will continue to accompany and support Da Nang in local foreign affairs, contributing to realizing the aspiration of building a strong, prosperous and happy Vietnam.

Reporting at the conference, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Xuan Binh said that in the period of 2021 - 2025, Da Nang welcomed more than 3,000 international delegations. To date, the city has established cooperative relations with 60 localities in 24 countries on 5 continents, signing 120 cooperation agreements.

Over the past five years, the city has licensed 797 FDI projects with a total capital of over 1.07 billion USD, focusing on high technology, logistics and tourism. The city's total import-export turnover is estimated at 41 billion USD. The city received 14,883 billion VND in ODA capital and 1,432 billion VND from non-governmental aid.

Tourism and the startup ecosystem have recovered and developed impressively; effectively promoted culture, affirming its position as a safe and friendly international city. The city has also implemented many defense and security cooperation activities, contributing to maintaining sovereignty and a peaceful environment.

At the conference, the Department of Foreign Affairs signed a cooperation agreement with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the Representative Office of Chungcheong Nam Province (South Korea).

On this occasion, the Chairman of the City People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 18 domestic and foreign collectives and individuals with positive contributions to the implementation of international integration and cooperation in the 2021-2025 period.
