Phu Quy Island enters tourist season, visitors increase sharply

In the first two months of 2024, due to unfavorable weather conditions, Phu Quy Island only welcomed about 6,584 visitors. However, in March, the number of visitors began to increase sharply, reaching more than 17,000.

A representative of a high-speed passenger ship operating on the Phan Thiet - Phu Quy route said that because this is the beginning of the calm sea season, the number of tourists to Phu Quy island has increased sharply.

In the first three months of the year, Phu Quy Island is estimated to welcome more than 23,780 visitors (including about 985 international visitors), an increase of more than 13,830 visitors over the same period in 2023.

It is forecasted that in April 2024, the number of visitors to Phu Quy will continue to increase dramatically when the weather is favorable and during the peak holiday season of April 30.

Currently, there are about 4 high-speed ferries carrying hundreds of tourists from Phan Thiet to Phu Quy Island every day. Especially on weekends, most of the ferries are sold out, and even have extra trips added.

According to the People's Committee of Phu Quy island district, by 2023, the entire island will have 60 hotels, motels, and 97 homestays to accommodate more than 2,000 guests per day. In recent years, people on the island have rushed to build homestays.
