The program was recently held with the participation of representatives of the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Agency, the Vietnamese Trade Counselor in Malaysia, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia, the Indonesian Association of Travel Agents (ASTINDO), the Hue City Department of Tourism and the Da Nang City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Exploiting flight routes

Da Nang and Hue are considered localities with diverse destinations, rich in cultural identity and beautiful nature.

In particular, this is an area for developing professional Halal tourism services - a tourism service model that meets the needs of Muslim guests according to Islamic regulations (Sharia), focusing on Halal food and appropriate religious and lifestyle amenities, so that visitors can travel, stay and have fun.

Within a radius of only 250km, the Da Nang - Hue area has three major airports, including two international airports, facilitating connections to major cities in Indonesia and Malaysia, and supporting the operation of international charter flights.

Currently, the Kuala Lumpur - Da Nang route operates 35 flights/week, expected to increase to 42 flights/week from October 2025 when Vietjet Air joins the operation. Along with that, there is a push to open a direct flight route from Jakarta to Da Nang.

Halal tourism ecosystem and sustainable products

One of the highlights is the introduction of Halal tourism services. Restaurants, hotels, and tourist attractions in Da Nang and Hue all meet international Halal standards, with prayer rooms and facilities for religious activities.

This makes the Central region a favorite destination for Muslim tourists from Indonesia, Malaysia and the Middle East, while contributing to enhancing multicultural tourism experiences.

Sustainable, eco-friendly and community-based tours are all designed to be culturally and religiously appropriate for Muslim visitors, ensuring respect and a complete experience.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Van Ba Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, emphasized: “Da Nang focuses on developing a friendly tourism environment for Muslim tourists; at the same time, promoting sustainable tourism products with local cultural characteristics.

We want to introduce unique and authentic experiences, from culture - cuisine to community tours, ensuring respect for the culture and beliefs of visitors."

Enterprises - bridges of international cooperation

This event had the participation of more than 20 typical tourism businesses from Da Nang and Hue, directly introducing products and connecting with partners in Malaysia and Indonesia.

More than 500 meetings took place, opening up cooperation opportunities in the fields of: MICE tour organization, wedding tourism, golf and Halal product packages.

Mr. Heben Ezer, Head of Inbound Tourism, Indonesian Travel Agents Association commented: “We recognize the professionalism, product diversity and commitment to sustainable tourism development that Da Nang and Hue are implementing, especially Halal services and eco-tours are highlights attracting Indonesian and international tourists”.

One of the important points discussed was opening a direct flight route from Jakarta to Da Nang. Mr. Ta Van Thong, Ambassador of Vietnam to Indonesia, emphasized: “Jakarta is a potential market to open direct flights to Da Nang. The Embassy of Vietnam in Indonesia is always ready to support airlines and local partners to realize this plan.”

With modern tourism infrastructure, professional Halal services, diverse tourism products and plans to expand international routes, Da Nang and Hue are affirming their position as leading destinations in Southeast Asia, not only for Muslim tourists but also for the entire international market.

Events in Malaysia and Indonesia open up opportunities for sustainable cooperation, contributing to making Central Vietnam a Halal tourism hub and a globally attractive destination.
