(NLDO) - Quang Nam Medical College believes that merging into Quang Nam College, losing the school's name, is a pity.
On February 28, the Office of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province said that the People's Committee of the province had just issued an official dispatch assigning the Department of Home Affairs to advise on resolving the proposal of Quang Nam Medical College.
Previously, on February 11, Quang Nam Medical College reported to the Provincial People's Committee on its operations after 6 months since the new leadership and management apparatus was completed and proposed a sustainable operating model in the coming time.

According to the report, implementing Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW and the plan of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province on the orientation of reorganizing and streamlining the organizational apparatus, Quang Nam Medical College has reorganized and streamlined the organizational apparatus within the school with the result of reducing from 10 departments and faculties to 8 departments and faculties (reduction of 16.66%).
2024 is considered an unexpectedly successful year for Quang Nam Medical College in enrollment, as the number of students enrolling at the school is the highest in the past 5 years.
Up to now, the school has issued admission decisions for 275 full-time college students; admission decisions for 76 students of short-term training classes on village and hamlet health; opened additional training classes on village and hamlet health in Bac Tra My district, Hiep Duc district and Dai Loc district...
Quang Nam Medical College said it will continue to review and streamline its internal apparatus to ensure effective and efficient operations. The school proposed a sustainable operating model in the coming time and asked to continue operating as the current model, without merging into Quang Nam College.
The reasons given were that Quang Nam Medical College is a training institution with a long tradition, established in 1961. Whether in war or peacetime, the school has always been highly appreciated by generations of provincial leaders.
Establishing a vocational college in general for a province is usually more convenient, while establishing a separate medical college for a province is a complicated process, requiring many strict conditions. The medical college was established in 2006 on the basis of upgrading from Quang Nam Medical College, and has been in operation for nearly 20 years. Therefore, the merger to lose the name "Quang Nam Medical College" is regrettable.
From now on, the Medical College will no longer be under the management of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs but will be transferred to the Ministry of Education and Training. During the period of 2022-2024, Quang Nam Medical College was said to be operating ineffectively, staff and lecturers at the school were owed salaries; the school's general hospital was suspended. At the end of March 2024, Mr. Huynh Tan Tuan, Principal; Mr. Nguyen Ba, former Principal; Mr. Nguyen Duc Don, Head of Planning and Finance Department, Chief Accountant of Quang Nam Medical College were prosecuted to investigate the act of abusing position and power while performing official duties.
