Disciplinary warning recommended for principal for concealing student fight

Regarding the case of students fighting at Trung Hieu Secondary School, the Disciplinary Council of the Department of Education and Training of Vung Liem District ( Vinh Long ) met to propose disciplining the principal.

On November 11, according to information from the Department of Education and Training of Vung Liem District (Vinh Long), the Disciplinary Council of the unit held a meeting and proposed a disciplinary warning for Mr. Vo Huu Tran, Principal of Trung Hieu Secondary School, for deliberately concealing the incident of students fighting and not reporting to superiors.

Specifically, based on the results of verifying information about students fighting on September 23 and the case of students fighting in the 2023-2024 school year at Trung Hieu Secondary School, the Disciplinary Council found that Mr. Vo Huu Tran deliberately concealed the matter, did not report to superiors, and only resolved it internally, causing public outrage.

Thereby, the Disciplinary Council of the Department of Education and Training of Vung Liem District unanimously proposed that the competent authority discipline Mr. Vo Huu Tran with a warning.

At the same time, it is recommended that the competent authority continue to handle the officials involved in the case of a group of students beating up a classmate at Trung Hieu Secondary School on September 23. Specifically, Mr. Huynh Hoang Hai, the homeroom teacher, did not manage the class closely, students fought in class many times but he did not detect it, and did not have a solution to manage students and prevent students from fighting.

The head teacher Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thanh has not fulfilled her responsibility in managing student discipline and has not cared for the students when they were beaten by a group of friends. When parents sent clips of students being beaten by a group of friends to Ms. Thanh, she only sent them to the principal and did not discuss with the students' families the circumstances of the beating so that the families could promptly give first aid to the students.

Regarding the incident, Trung Hieu Secondary School previously held a disciplinary council meeting and decided to discipline 9 students. Of these, 8 students who directly beat their friend were disciplined by being suspended from school for 1 school year (2024-2025), 1 female student who filmed the clip was disciplined by being suspended from school for 2 weeks. The students who stood by and did not report or help their friend stop them were criticized in front of the whole school and had their conduct grade reduced by 1 level.

The cause of the incident was that on September 21, TTL student pretended to fall and elbowed NHN in the back, causing N. to be hurt. After that, he went home and told his grandmother that L. had hurt him. Feeling sorry for her grandchild, N.'s grandmother went to L.'s family to report this, causing the child to be scolded and punished. The next day, L. invited more friends to find and beat N.

At 11:25 a.m. on September 23, L. did not directly participate, but called on a group of 8th grade students from the same school to beat N. right in the classroom. This group beat N. with hands, feet, brooms, helmets, chairs, sticks... N. did not dare to resist. Many students who witnessed the incident did not report it to the school but stood there cheering; TTNH used his phone to record the entire incident.
