Proposal to remove a series of unsafe self-opened paths across the railway

On April 18, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province sent an official dispatch to departments, branches and localities of the province requesting coordination in handling some existing level crossings and ensuring safety at self-opened crossings on the railway line passing through the province.

Previously, in an official dispatch sent to the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, Quang Nam - Da Nang Railway Joint Stock Company named a series of self-opened level crossings and walkways that pose a risk of traffic safety.

Specifically, the self-opened paths at Km 825+520 (Duy Son commune), Km 826+350 and Km 827+500 (Duy Trung commune, Duy Xuyen district), Km 858+550 (Tam An commune, Phu Ninh district) have been fully installed with train warning signs, car prohibition signs, narrowing barriers and reported to People's Committees at all levels for coordinated management.

However, these locations have had their fences demolished by locals to allow cars to pass through the railway, posing a high risk of accidents.

Quang Nam - Da Nang Railway Joint Stock Company requested local authorities to have a plan to narrow the width of self-opened paths so that the company can coordinate to ensure safety.

At the same time, it is recommended to immediately remove some self-opened paths at Km 886+720, Km 887+930, Km 888+080 (in Nui Thanh town, Nui Thanh district) because there are already service roads.

In addition, the company also requested the People's Committees of Duy Xuyen and Nui Thanh districts, Tam Ky city and communes and wards with railways passing through to organize guard posts to ensure safety at self-opened passages with high traffic volume such as: Km 825+520 (Duy Son commune, Duy Xuyen district); Km 862+00 (Hoa Thuan ward, Tam Ky city); Km 872+280 (Tam Xuan 2 commune, Nui Thanh district) and Km 889+050 (Nui Thanh town, Nui Thanh district).

To ensure safety at legal level crossings, Quang Nam - Da Nang Railway Joint Stock Company requests local authorities to strengthen the propaganda of railway traffic safety for the people, clear the view, repair the road surface, add road signs, draw stop lines, speed bumps on roads leading to level crossings at missing level crossings, connect signal lights at level crossings with barriers to the railway...

In addition, measures should be taken to prevent people from setting up tents and encroaching on railway safety corridors. Strengthen inspection and handling of violations of traffic safety regulations at level crossings and self-opened walkways to raise awareness of traffic participants and prevent accidents at level crossings and self-opened walkways.

According to the Office of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, the province has issued a document assigning the Traffic Safety Committee, the Department of Transport, the Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Police and the People's Committees of districts, towns, cities... according to their assigned functions and tasks to proactively coordinate and implement solutions to ensure railway traffic safety through the area according to their authority and regulations.
