Urban Railway Project No. 1 ( Binh Duong New City - Suoi Tien) is identified as a key transport project, contributing to concretizing the approved strategy for developing the transport system and urban railway. This route is of great significance in promoting the socio-economic development of the Southeast region, ensuring smooth connection between major economic centers of the region.
The route will help reduce traffic on major routes, limiting congestion on routes such as National Highway 13, Provincial Road 743, My Phuoc - Tan Van, Hanoi Highway...
The railway line is approximately 29.01km long, starting at Binh Duong New City Central Station and ending at Suoi Tien Bus Station (connecting to Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Line No. 1), with an estimated land use requirement of approximately 58ha. The railway line is designed according to double-track standards, 1,435mm gauge, electrification, and a maximum design speed of 120km/h.
The total preliminary investment of the project is about 46,725 billion VND, implemented in the form of public investment, including 16,725 billion VND from the local budget (36%) and 30,000 billion VND from mobilized sources according to the urban development model associated with transport (TOD).
In addition, there are two new urban railway lines in the area that are proposed for investment with a total investment of more than 114,000 billion VND. In which, urban railway line No. 2 project connects with the expanded line No. 3 of Ho Chi Minh City. And the Di An - Bau Bang railway project has its starting point at An Binh station and its ending point at Bau Bang station.
