Android phones will soon be used as wireless webcams on Windows 11

According to TechRadar , Windows 11 users will soon be able to use their Android smartphone (or tablet) as a webcam. This feature is currently available to Windows Insider testers and is expected to roll out to all users soon in the future.

In a post on the official Windows Insider blog, Microsoft said it has begun rolling out a feature that allows users with a suitable Android device, such as a tablet or phone, to act as a webcam on their PC for use with programs that require the use of this device, such as Zoom, Teams or Zalo.

Windows 11 is about to let you use Android phones as webcams

If you want to try out this new feature, you can sign up for Microsoft's free Windows Insider program. The only requirement is that you need a suitable PC that can run Windows 10 or Windows 11. You also need to make sure that the mobile device you want to use as a webcam is running Android 9.0 or higher, as well as having the Link to Windows app installed on your mobile device.

This is good news for users who don't have a dedicated webcam or are unhappy with the quality of the webcam built into their laptop. Many modern smartphones come with cameras that are much better quality than webcams, and this feature allows for the more convenient use of wireless connections.

Additionally, users can also switch between the phone's front and rear cameras, pause the webcam stream, and activate camera effects available on the mobile device while in use.
