Dong Nai: 19 doctors and pharmacists prosecuted to investigate insurance fraud

On June 10, Bien Hoa City Police ( Dong Nai Province) announced that they had just initiated a case, prosecuting 19 defendants (one defendant was released on bail) to investigate the act of forging documents of agencies and organizations.

According to Bien Hoa City Police, there are 5 doctors who used to work at general clinics, the rest are pharmacists, medical staff and brokers who specialize in forging documents at general clinics.

Authorities searched a polyclinic in Bien Hoa City.

Previously, on the morning of May 30, Bien Hoa City Police conducted a search of about 10 medical clinics in Bien Hoa City. In Long Binh Tan Ward, police forces were present at Tan Long General Clinic and Long Binh Tan General Clinic to check documents and seize many related files. Bien Hoa City Police summoned more than 30 people involved in making fake documents for verification and clarification.

Initial findings indicate that, in addition to examining and treating patients daily, the clinics also buy, sell, and forge documents such as social insurance leave certificates and health examination certificates to sell to employees, mainly workers in companies. In addition to buying and selling social insurance leave certificates, the clinics also create documents to receive health insurance settlement.

Currently, Bien Hoa City police are continuing to expand the investigation to clarify the case.
