Breakthrough from new policy

(NLDO) - On November 21, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper organized a discussion "Social housing: Breakthrough from new policies".

According to the Ho Chi Minh City housing development program for the 2021-2030 period and the Government 's project on investing in the construction of at least 1 million social houses for low-income people and industrial park workers, in the 2021-2030 period, Ho Chi Minh City plans to develop about 69,700 - 93,000 social houses; of which, in the 2021-2025 period, Ho Chi Minh City plans to develop 26,200 to 35,000 houses.

New policies are expected to bring about a breakthrough in social housing development.

Regarding implementation results, accumulated from the beginning of the term (2021) to September 2024, the city has completed 6 projects (5 social housing projects and 1 worker accommodation project) with a scale of 2,745 apartments and is constructing 4 projects with nearly 3,000 apartments. The results of social housing development are still modest due to many reasons.

In recent times, social housing development has been an issue that has received great attention from the Party and State, with many policies and strategies having been issued.

Most recently, at the 8th session (October 2024), the National Assembly spent most of its time conducting supreme supervision of the implementation of policies and laws on real estate market management and social housing development from 2015 to the end of 2023.

Last May, the Central Committee issued Directive 34-CT/TW of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in social housing development in the new situation. Many institutional obstacles to social housing development have been resolved in the 2023 Housing Law and the 2023 Real Estate Business Law, the 2024 Land Law, Decree 100/2024/ND-CP, Resolution 33/NQ-CP...

The seminar "Social housing: Breakthrough from new policies" with the participation of functional agencies, businesses, experts... will dissect the causes and limitations in social housing development; at the same time, share new policies, propose solutions to facilitate the development of social housing projects, increase supply and make it easier for beneficiaries to access social housing. New policies are considered a lever to create a breakthrough in social housing development.
