On the evening of August 25, at Cau Ke District Stadium ( Tra Vinh ), the opening ceremony of the 100-year Tra Vinh Coconut Festival and the Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week of Cau Ke District in 2024 took place.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Van Han, Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee, said that this event is the best way to preserve, maintain and promote the Vu Lan Thang Hoi festival - the belief of the Chinese community in Cau Ke District (Tra Vinh) - which has been included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. At the same time, continue to build and develop diverse OCOP product brands in the whole province; strengthen exchanges, connections, and call for investment to develop diverse tourism and agricultural products with regions.

According to the Organizing Committee, the Tra Vinh 100-year Wax Coconut Festival aims to strengthen investment promotion activities, develop links between businesses and coconut growers, ensure the connection of production stages, deep processing and product consumption according to standards, meet export markets; build consumption links with businesses processing value-added products, creating stable output for wax coconut.
Wax coconut has become a crop that is focused on and constantly increasing in area and output. Currently, there are 3 wax coconut products that have achieved 3-star OCOP, 7 products that have achieved 4-star OCOP, 3 products that have achieved 5-star potential OCOP including: pure wax coconut candy, pandan wax coconut candy, cocoa wax coconut candy and 1 product that has achieved 5-star OCOP which is fiber wax coconut.

At the opening ceremony, the Department of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology) announced the decision on geographical indication for Tra Vinh wax coconut.
The 100th anniversary of Tra Vinh wax coconut festival and Vu Lan Thang Hoi week in Cau Ke district in 2024 took place from August 25 to 31, with 12 outstanding activities, such as: a seminar on wax coconut trees; displaying delicious fruit specialties of Tra Vinh province; a contest to prepare 100 delicious dishes from wax coconut; a talk show "Cau Ke Tourism - Potential along the Hau River...
