Forced 9th grade male student to eat dirt to film clip causes outrage

On the evening of October 22, Mr. Nguyen Thuc Quang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Anh commune (Nam Dan district, Nghe An) said that the commune police are investigating the case of a 9th grade male student in the commune being forced by classmates to eat dirt and then filmed.

Previously, a clip of more than 2 minutes long was circulated on social networks, recording a scene of a young man sitting on the grass by the roadside and picking up dirt to eat. In the clip, 2 other young men appeared, continuously using threatening words and forcing the young man to pick up dirt to eat. Out of fear, the young man kept picking up large handfuls of dirt and putting them in his mouth to eat.

When the clip appeared, it caused public outrage because of the inhumane actions of the group of young men above.

Through investigation, it is known that the incident happened earlier in the evening of October 21 in Nam Anh commune (Nam Dan district, Nghe An). The male student forced to eat dirt was H.D. (grade 9 student at Anh Xuan Secondary School, Nam Anh commune). The two people who forced D. to eat dirt were a classmate and an 11th grade male student residing in Nam Anh commune (Nam Dan district).

After learning about the incident, on the evening of October 21, the principal of Anh Xuan Secondary School went to the house of male student D. to inquire and learn about the incident.

On the morning of October 22, male student D. was taken to the hospital by his relatives for a health check. “After going to the hospital for a check-up, D.’s health was found to be normal. The police are still investigating this incident to find a way to handle it,” said the Chairman of Nam Anh Commune.

It is known that D. is in a difficult and pitiful situation. D.'s father had cancer and just passed away. D. herself is not as agile as her peers.
