Gen Z goes to see the war movie 'Tunnels'

Many young audiences who came to see "Tunnels" said they were inspired to love and be proud of their country's history.

Director Bui Thac Chuyen's film premiered domestically in early April and was well received by audiences, including many Gen Z viewers. Most reviews said the work was inspirational about a period in history, depicting the fighting spirit and sacrifice of the previous generation.

Tunnels: Sun in the Dark revolves around a group of 21 guerrillas who stayed in Cu Chi (Ho Chi Minh City) after the American sweep of Cedar Falls (1967). Team leader Bay Theo (Thai Hoa) (closed) and his teammates were assigned to protect the area for the strategic intelligence group. However, their communications were discovered by the enemy. The guerrillas were in a dangerous situation, facing many sweeps.

The project was carried out on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, and was funded by the socialized budget. Director and screenwriter Bui Thac Chuyen said that many scenes and characters were inspired and built from real-life prototypes.
