According to information from many breeders, traders and businesses, the price of live pigs on the afternoon of August 6 had different developments in different regions.

Specifically in the Northern market, the price of live pigs decreased by 1,000 VND/kg compared to the previous day, down to a common level of 58,000-63,000 VND/kg depending on the region.

After adjustment, the price of live pigs in Hai Phong, Hanoi , Bac Ninh, Tuyen Quang and Thai Nguyen is at 60,000-63,000 VND/kg. The remaining provinces are in the range of 58,000-62,000 VND/kg.

In the Central and Central Highlands markets, the price of live pigs also decreased by 700 - 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, to 56,500 - 62,500 VND/kg depending on the location. In which, with the common price in the range of 57,000 - 59,000 VND/kg, the Central Highlands region was recorded to have a lower price than the Central region.

In contrast to the reversal in the two above regions, the price of live pigs in the Southern market was recorded to increase by 600-1,000 VND/kg in some localities, and is currently at a common level of 59,000-64,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, the price of live pigs in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Thap, Ca Mau , Can Tho... reached 62,000-64,000 VND/kg; Tay Ninh, Dong Nai reached 64,000 VND/kg, the highest in the country.

According to records, the price of live pigs sold by companies tends to be 1,500-2,000 VND/kg higher than pigs raised on a small scale by people. In addition, the listed price and the actual selling price from companies sometimes have differences depending on supply and demand activities.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online recently, Mr. Nguyen Kim Doan, vice president of the Dong Nai Livestock Association, said that the amount of pigs on the market has increased recently due to people selling off their pigs due to the epidemic, but the total volume of meat is not too much because some farms selling pigs are still small.

"It is difficult to predict the price of pork in the coming months due to the impact of reduced consumer demand, the outbreak of African swine fever and imported meat. If domestic supply decreases due to the epidemic, the amount of imports will increase and vice versa, causing meat prices to change rapidly," said Mr. Doan.

Many farmers believe that with the recent outbreak of the disease, the domestic pig supply is likely to decrease sharply in the last months of the year.

According to the agricultural sector, by the end of July 2025, businesses had spent nearly 2.6 billion USD to import livestock products, an increase of nearly 23% over the same period in 2024. In July alone, the import value was estimated at nearly 400 million USD.
