Rice price today August 19: Raw rice price slightly increased, export maintained record high

Rice prices today increased by 50-100 VND/kg for some types, late-season rice fluctuated little; Vietnam's rice export price continues to maintain the highest level in the world.

Raw rice market

In the Mekong Delta region, raw rice prices recorded a slight increase of VND50-100/kg. IR 504 rice increased to VND8,400-8,600/kg, OM 380 fluctuated at VND8,250-8,350/kg. Other types such as CL 555 (VND8,650-8,750/kg), OM 5451 (VND9,500-9,650/kg), OM 18 (VND9,600-9,700/kg) remained stable.

Retail rice price

In the household market, the retail price of rice fluctuates little. Regular rice is at 13,000 - 14,000 VND/kg, Jasmine rice is 17,000 - 18,000 VND/kg, Thai fragrant rice is 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg, Huong Lai rice is 22,000 VND/kg. Nang Nhen rice is still the highest grade, reaching 28,000 VND/kg.

Domestic rice market

End-of-season supply is still low, transactions are slow. Dai Thom 8, Nang Hoa 9, OM 18 rice fluctuates at 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg; OM 5451 at 5,900 - 6,000 VND/kg; IR 50404 from 5,700 - 5,800 VND/kg. Japanese rice remains at a high price of 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg, while dry Nang Nhen rice reaches 20,000 VND/kg.

Glutinous rice price today

Sticky rice products remain stable. IR 4625 sticky rice (fresh) fluctuates at 7,300 - 7,500 VND/kg, IR 4625 sticky rice (dry) at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg, 3-month dry sticky rice at 9,600 - 9,700 VND/kg.

By-product price

By-products remain unchanged from yesterday. Dry bran is at 6,200 - 6,300 VND/kg, fragrant rice bran is 7,500 - 7,700 VND/kg, rice husk is 1,400 - 1,600 VND/kg.

Export markets

Vietnam's rice export prices continue to be the highest among major exporting countries. 5% broken rice remains at 395 USD/ton, 25% broken rice at 371 USD/ton and 100% broken rice at 339 USD/ton. In comparison, the same type from India is at 379 USD/ton, Pakistan at 365 USD/ton, and Thailand is the lowest at 362 USD/ton.
