Rice price today September 5: Rice price stable, raw rice price cools down

Rice prices today decreased by 50 VND/kg for some raw materials. Fresh rice and exported rice prices remained stable, with stable transactions.

On the morning of September 5, the domestic rice market was generally stable, with only some raw rice varieties slightly decreasing by 50 VND/kg. Trading volume in the Mekong Delta remained moderate, with fresh rice prices not fluctuating much compared to yesterday.

Domestic rice prices

In An Giang , the price of IR 504 raw rice for export decreased to 7,700 - 7,850 VND/kg. Other types remained stable: CL 555 at 7,750 - 7,900 VND/kg, OM 5451 around 7,700 - 7,900 VND/kg, OM 380 fluctuated between 8,200 - 8,300 VND/kg, OM 18 reached 9,600 - 9,700 VND/kg.

Finished rice OM 380 is traded at 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg, while IR 504 is around 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.

By-products fluctuated slightly, OM 504 broken rice fluctuated at 7,300 - 7,400 VND/kg, bran at 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg. Warehouses in Dong Thap, An Giang, Can Tho had sporadic transactions, prices were generally stable.

Retail rice price

At retail markets, rice prices remained unchanged from yesterday. Nang Nhen remained at the highest level of VND28,000/kg; Huong Lai VND22,000/kg; regular rice VND13,000 - 14,000/kg; Thai fragrant rice VND20,000 - 22,000/kg; Jasmine VND16,000 - 18,000/kg; Japanese rice remained at VND22,000/kg.

Rice price at the field

In An Giang, the prices of OM 18, OM 5451, Dai Thom 8, and Nang Hoa 9 varieties fluctuated at 5,900 - 6,200 VND/kg, stable compared to the weekend. IR 50404 and OM 308 were purchased at around 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg. In Vinh Long, fresh rice prices showed signs of increasing slightly due to regular purchases by traders, while Can Tho and Dong Thap had lower transaction volumes.

Rice exports

Vietnam’s rice export prices remain stable. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 5% broken fragrant rice remains at 455 – 460 USD/ton, Jasmine at 545 – 549 USD/ton, and 100% broken rice at 333 – 337 USD/ton.
