Durian exports
Besides the domestic market, durian exports are still growing positively thanks to the improved logistics system. The China-Laos railway has become the main transport channel, helping to shorten the travel time from Laos to Kunming (China) to only 26 hours.
Kunming Hongyun International Logistics Port said that during peak season, up to 18 tons of durian can be transferred from a container to a truck in just 40 minutes. As of the end of August, more than 150,000 tons of durian had been imported via this route, up 91% from the same period last year.
In addition to China, the import market is expanding to many other tropical fruits such as lychee and longan, helping to increase the diversity of Southeast Asian supply for consumers.
