To meet the consumption and shopping needs of people after the Tet holiday, small traders and retail store owners in the province have begun to return to normal operations. Many solutions to stabilize the market and protect consumer rights have also been deployed and implemented by the relevant agencies before, during and after Tet.
According to Dong Ha market, since the morning of the second day of Tet, vegetables, meat, fish and some essential foods have been sold in abundance. Although the prices of goods have increased compared to normal days, they have increased less than the previous Tet holidays and the consumption level is not high.

Ms. Le Thi Be, a food vendor at Dong Ha market, said: “Compared to last year, this year the prices of many types of green vegetables, tubers, and fruits are relatively stable. In particular, vegetables such as celery, spinach, sweet potato, and watercress only increased slightly by 1-2 thousand VND/bunch... Some types of tubers and fruits such as carrots, potatoes, kohlrabi, cabbage... have almost no price fluctuations compared to before Tet. For meat and fish of all kinds, the selling price increased by about 10-20 thousand VND/kg.
Specifically, beef tenderloin and shank cost around 280,000 VND/kg; pork costs from 120,000 to 140,000 VND/kg depending on the type, an increase of 10,000 VND/kg. Carp and snakehead fish cost 180,000 to 200,000 VND/kg; grass carp costs 60,000 to 90,000 VND/kg (depending on the size).
In order to ensure the market of goods and the supply of food for people during the Lunar New Year, supermarkets have also proactively opened early to stabilize the market, avoiding the situation of hot goods and shortages. Accordingly, the VinMart supermarket system and Co.opmart Dong Ha supermarket reopened from February 13 (the 4th day of Tet) and February 15 (the 6th day of Tet).
Ms. Nguyen Thi Vinh, an employee at VinMart supermarket in Dong Ha city, said: "The items chosen by people at the supermarket since opening on the 4th day of Tet until now are mainly vegetables, tubers, fresh food, fruits... The selling prices of items at the supermarket are stable compared to the time before Tet because the supermarket system has planned to prepare abundant supply, ensuring quality to serve the shopping and consumption needs of people."
To maintain a stable market, abundant goods, meet people's consumption needs and ensure smooth circulation of goods during the Lunar New Year, before Tet, functional sectors have resolutely implemented solutions to ensure balance of supply and demand, stabilize the market, and at the same time have plans to guide consumption, strictly control the market for fresh and processed food groups to curb price increases as well as minimize the circulation of poor quality products on the market.
In addition, the market management force has increased market inspection and control, and prevention and combat of smuggling. This year, most people tend to shop later than usual due to having to balance spending and gradually adapt to frugal consumption, so market pressure is at its peak in the days leading up to Tet. Understanding consumer psychology, state management agencies have also done a good job of orienting and managing the market and creating maximum conditions for goods to circulate smoothly.
In addition, the supply of goods is carefully prepared by businesses and establishments in both quantity and consumer segment, so it basically meets the essential needs of people; market prices increase and decrease alternately, but there is no phenomenon of sudden price increases in all items.
