Domestic and world gold prices continuously set new peaks
At the opening of the trading session on September 6, SJC gold bar prices were listed by businesses at 133.9-135.4 million VND/tael (buy - sell), an increase of 1 million VND/tael in both buying and selling. This is also a new record for this commodity. The difference between buying and selling prices remained at 1.5 million VND/tael.
Meanwhile, the listed price of gold rings remained at a record level of 126.7-129.2 million VND/tael (buy - sell) set on September 5.

The situation of people queuing to buy gold occurred when the price of precious metals increased sharply in recent days. However, demand exceeded supply. According to Dan Tri reporters, most large stores only sell from the time they open in the morning until about 10 am when all the plain gold rings are sold out. Gold bars are no longer sold directly by units.
Domestic gold prices have been rising in line with world gold prices. In the international market, the precious metal is trading at around $3,600 an ounce, the highest ever. In just the past month, the precious metal has increased by 6%. If we consider the past year, this metal has increased by 42%.
Gold prices rose after the release of US economic data showed a lackluster signal. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, US non-farm payrolls increased by only 22,000 jobs last month. This figure was significantly lower than the general forecast, as economists expected a job increase of about 75,000 jobs.
Meanwhile, the unemployment rate continued to rise, reaching 4.3%, up from 4.2% in July. The increase in the unemployment rate was in line with the general forecast. This figure further confirmed the forecast that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) will cut interest rates this month.
Free USD increased sharply
At the end of the trading session on September 5, the State Bank announced the central exchange rate at 25,248 VND, unchanged from the previous one. With a 5% margin compared to the central exchange rate, commercial banks are allowed to buy and sell USD in the range of 23,986-26,510 VND.
Major banks continue to list USD prices at 26,190-26,510 VND (buy - sell). USD transaction prices at joint stock banks are 26,150-26,510 VND (buy - sell). All units list USD prices at the ceiling price.
In the free market, foreign currency exchange points listed the USD buying and selling price at 26,800-26,900 VND (buy - sell), unchanged from yesterday, also a record level for the "black market" USD.
