On the morning of September 22, oil prices edged up nearly 0.3%, at 7:30 a.m. (Vietnam time), US WTI crude oil spot contract traded at 62.56 USD/barrel; Brent crude oil, the global standard, traded at 66.86 USD/barrel.
Oil prices edged up in early Asian trading amid the prospect of additional sanctions against Russia, according to the Wall Street Journal. The EU has proposed sanctions on Chinese and other foreign companies that buy Russian oil, as part of a package of measures aimed at showing President Donald Trump that the bloc is increasing economic pressure on Russia and its backers.

However, the oversupply situation could restrain the increase, even support the price of oil to decrease this week. Analysts indicate that the world oil price tends to decrease in the context of investors' concerns about large supply and weak demand, overwhelming the expectation of the first interest rate cut of the year by the US Federal Reserve (Fed) as well as the information about additional sanctions on Russian oil as above.
Domestically, the updated price of finished petroleum products in the Asian market as of this morning shows that domestic petroleum prices may fluctuate in opposite directions, with gasoline prices decreasing and oil prices increasing. Overall, the fluctuations are insignificant, fluctuating around 100 VND/liter/kg, as of this time.
On the morning of September 22, the common retail prices of gasoline in the market in region 2 (far from ports, factories, warehouses...) were as follows: RON 95-V gasoline 21,520 VND/liter, RON95-III gasoline 21,010 VND/liter, E10 RON 95-III biofuel 20,620 VND/liter, E5 RON92-II gasoline 20,370 VND/liter, 0.001SV diesel 19,510 VND/liter, 0.05S-II diesel 19,070 VND/liter, kerosene 18,910 VND/liter, mazut 18,320 VND/kg./.
