In the 2021 - 2025 period, Military Region 7 collected more than 2,600 martyrs' remains.

On September 18, the Military Region 7 Command held a conference to review 5 years of implementing Directive 169 of the Central Military Commission Standing Committee on policy work for the Army and the Army's rear; and to summarize the task of searching, collecting and identifying the remains of martyrs with missing information in the 2021-2025 period.

Attending the conference were Major General Cao Xuan Thang, Deputy Director of the Department of Social Policy, General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; leaders of provinces and cities in Military Region 7. On the side of Ho Chi Minh City leaders, there was comrade Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

Implement well the policy work for the Army and the Army's rear

Over the past 5 years of implementing Directive 169, the Party Committee and Command of Military Region 7 have led, directed, deployed extensively, seriously, closely, and comprehensively implemented it in all aspects, correctly and fully meeting the prescribed standards and regimes.

Agencies and units have focused on paying salaries, allowances, and subsidies to active duty forces, those who have retired from active duty, and those who have retired from military service in accordance with financial standards, procedures, and principles; implementing policies on rewards, promotions, and salary and rank increases in accordance with regulations. Along with that, attention has been paid to the regime for officers and soldiers on duty in border areas, seas, islands, and international areas...

Conference delegates

Every year, the Party Committee and the Military Region Command meet with retired senior military officers in the area to ensure thoughtfulness, respect and safety; resolve policies and regimes for those who participated in the resistance war, the war to protect the Fatherland and performed international missions in accordance with regulations.

Over the past 5 years, Military Region 7 has supported the construction of more than 4,400 comrade houses and solidarity houses, participated in the construction and demolition of more than 400 temporary and dilapidated houses...; regularly visited, gave gifts, and supported military families in difficult circumstances.

Gathering more than 2,600 martyrs' remains

In the 2021-2025 period, the Military Region 515 Steering Committee and localities have regularly improved their organization and closely coordinated with the National Steering Committee 515, the Association of War Veterans and Foreign Veterans to collect and verify information on martyrs and martyrs' graves. Units have distributed over 2.4 million forms to collect information on martyrs and martyrs' graves; 10/10 provinces and cities (localities before the merger) have completed the conclusion of the area, created a map to search and collect martyrs' remains at all 3 levels.

As a result, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the work of searching, collecting martyrs' remains and identifying martyrs' remains with missing information was actively implemented, meeting the wishes of martyrs' relatives with more than 2,600 martyrs' remains (of which more than 2,000 martyrs' remains are in Cambodia and more than 480 martyrs' remains are in the country).

Speaking at the conference, Major General Tran Chi Tam, Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 7, Head of Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 7 acknowledged and commended the spirit of solidarity, efforts, and "self-reliance" of cadres at all levels in implementing Directive 169 and carrying out the task of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains, and identifying the remains of martyrs with missing information in recent times.

The Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 7 requested to continue to thoroughly grasp the policies and guidelines of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense on policy work for the Army and the Army's rear in the coming time. In particular, proactively develop solutions to implement Directive 169 in accordance with the characteristics of each unit and locality; focus on resolving policy backlogs after the wars.

Collectives and individuals received certificates of merit at the conference

Major General Tran Chi Tam emphasized that the work of searching, collecting and identifying martyrs' remains is considered a sacred political task, demonstrating responsibility and deep gratitude. Agencies and units need to continue to thoroughly grasp the Party's guidelines and the State's policies; at the same time, step up propaganda and mobilize the whole society to participate. Along with that, promote the combined strength, enhance the role and responsibility of agencies, organizations and forces; strengthen close coordination with Steering Committee 515 and Veterans Associations at all levels, in order to improve the effectiveness of task implementation.

At the conference, Military Region 7 awarded certificates of merit to 22 collectives and 38 individuals with outstanding achievements in policy work for the Army and the Army's rear; searching for and collecting martyrs' remains in the 2021-2025 period.
