The series of tourism and cultural activities "Ba Dinh Red" attracts visitors on September 2.
New record of tourism in the capital
According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, of the total 2.08 million visitors, international visitors accounted for over 80,000, an increase of 35% compared to the 2024 holiday. Key markets are still China, South Korea, India, Taiwan (China), the US, Japan, the UK and Australia. The city's tourism revenue reached about 4,500 billion VND, an increase of 80% over the same period last year. These are record numbers for the number of visitors and revenue of Hanoi tourism during the September 2 holiday.
Along with the growth in the number of visitors, Ms. Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, said that the room occupancy rate at 3-5 star hotels is always high. Many hotels such as Novotel Thai Ha, Novotel Suites, Lacasa Hanoi, Bao Son or Grand Mercure reached 100% occupancy on September 1. On average, the room occupancy rate of the Hanoi accommodation system reached 83%, an increase of 22.6 percentage points compared to the previous year's holiday.
Being honored by the TPO Best Awards 2025 in the category of “Sustainable Tourism” is a testament to Hanoi’s commitment to developing green tourism, preserving cultural identity and enhancing the experience of domestic and international tourists.

Notably, hotels and accommodation establishments have strictly complied with regulations on security, safety, environmental sanitation, fire prevention and fighting as well as temporary residence declaration. This contributes to ensuring the image of a safe, civilized and friendly destination in the eyes of international friends.
To gain such great attraction, Hanoi has prepared a series of special events, spreading the atmosphere of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. Notably, the activity of giving 35,000 gifts to tourists visiting the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. The program "Red Ba Dinh" with a series of activities promoting Hanoi's cultural and historical tourism took place from August 30 to September 2, full of flags and flowers, turning Ba Dinh into a bustling meeting place. On August 31, Hanoi continued to introduce the new product "The Hanoi Train - Hanoi 5-Cua O tourist train", connecting Thang Long - Kinh Bac. This is one of the efforts to create products to extend the stay of tourists. In particular, the exhibition “80 years of the journey of Independence – Freedom – Happiness” at the National Exhibition Fair Center (Dong Anh) made an impression when in just the first 3 days of the holiday, it attracted nearly 1.2 million visitors.
“Sustainable Tourism” Destination
During this year's National Day holiday, most of Hanoi's popular destinations recorded a sharp increase in the number of visitors, creating a rare vibrant tourism picture. The Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam welcomed about 18,000 visitors, Hoa Lo Prison more than 26,000 visitors, Thang Long Imperial Citadel and Hanoi Zoo reached 33,000 visitors. Suburban destinations such as Ba Vi National Park, Ao Vua, and Co Loa also attracted many families and groups of young people.
A special highlight is the program to welcome international reporters and overseas Vietnamese to visit Bat Trang pottery village, Duong Lam ancient village and experience the Hop-On Hop-Off double-decker bus. These activities contribute to spreading the image of Hanoi, a thousand-year-old culture, modern, dynamic and integrated. Along with that, the capital also attracts tourists with a series of new entertainment spots such as Lotte Mall Tay Ho, Vinhomes Ocean Park, meeting the needs of relaxation and entertainment of many young families.
Throughout the city, a series of art events and exhibitions take place continuously: Hoa Lo has the exhibition "Sharp pen, red heart"; Ho Chi Minh Museum displays the topics "80 years of the People's Public Security engraved Uncle Ho's words", "Autumn of Independence" and the large-scale oil painting "Spring of Independence". Thang Long Imperial Citadel opens many items such as House and Bunker D67, Cipher Bunker - General Staff, Hanoi Flag Tower.
At the same time, Hanoi organized many large-scale art programs: light mapping display at August Revolution Square and Hoan Kiem Lake; "80 years - Pride of Vietnam" program at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square; "Hanoi - Forever the aspiration of Vietnam" at the National Exhibition Center, along with music nights at My Dinh Stadium and Thong Nhat Park. The parade, march and fireworks display at 5 locations in the area became a "light feast", leaving an unforgettable impression of a vibrant Hanoi.
Not only making an impression domestically, Hanoi also made an international mark when participating in the 12th General Assembly of the Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO) in Ho Chi Minh City, from September 3 to 6. The Hanoi delegation participated in many key activities on digital transformation, sustainable development and cooperation promotion. Notably, the capital was honored in the category of "Sustainable Tourism" in the TPO Best Awards 2025.
This is in recognition of initiatives to limit single-use plastics, install trash bins at relic sites, develop green products and organize community events such as “Green Sunday”.
Setting a record in the number of visitors and gaining international recognition has affirmed Hanoi's development strategy in the right direction with dual goals: growing in quantity and moving towards a safe, friendly, green and integrated destination.
