Hanoi strengthens trade union cooperation with the Chinese General Confederation of Trade Unions

Cooperation opportunities between the two unions focus on sharing experiences, expanding labor care programs, training staff and innovating supervision, contributing to enhancing friendly relations and meeting the requirements of socio-economic development.

On September 17, at Longcheer Meiko Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd., the Hanoi City Labor Federation (VLF) received a delegation of the Chinese General Confederation of Labor led by Mr. Liu Fei - Deputy Head of the Legal Affairs Department of the Chinese General Confederation of Labor - for a visit and work.

Hanoi City Labor Federation shares outstanding results

Speaking at the meeting, Vice President of the Hanoi City Labor Federation Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy warmly welcomed the delegation of the Chinese General Confederation of Labor to visit and work with the City Labor Federation and Longcheer Meiko Electronics Co., Ltd. Vietnam. She also briefly informed about the socio -economic situation of the capital and the outstanding results of the Hanoi City Labor Union at all levels since the beginning of the year.

Accordingly, implementing the Party and State's policy on reorganizing and streamlining the apparatus and the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Hanoi Party Committee, the City Labor Federation has ended the activities of 45 grassroots-level trade unions. Currently, the City Labor Federation directly manages 6,349 grassroots trade unions with more than 629,000 union members; and is in the process of establishing 85 commune and ward trade unions and trade unions of high-tech parks and industrial parks in Hanoi.

Over the past time, the City Labor Federation has constantly innovated, taking the task of protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers as the center, actively contributing to the socio-economic development of the Capital.

In the work of representing and protecting workers, 100% of units organized conferences for civil servants, public employees, and workers; 72% organized conferences for workers; signed 1,420 collective labor agreements with more favorable terms than regulations; provided legal advice to 11,000 workers on salary, bonus, and social insurance regimes; coordinated dialogues between City leaders and workers to promptly resolve many petitions.

The work of caring for union members' lives has also been widely implemented: supporting more than 900,000 workers with a total cost of more than 387 billion VND; building and repairing 31 "Union Shelter" houses; organizing union meals for 200,000 workers; signing welfare contracts with 105 partners, bringing in preferential value of more than 12.8 billion VND.

In the field of cultural and spiritual life, the City Labor Federation maintains 92 Self-management groups for workers' dormitories, 67 Workers' cultural activity points, 35 Cultural and Sports Clusters, 186 Union Relaxation Corners, 339 Union Bookcases. At the same time, it organizes many cultural, artistic and sports programs to celebrate important events, especially the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

Emulation movements such as "Creative Labor" and "Capital's Excellent Workers" achieved high results with 60,220 excellent workers at the grassroots level, 100 excellent workers in the Capital, more than 34,000 initiatives, with a value of hundreds of billions of VND.

Sharing experiences in union work

Vice President of the Hanoi City Confederation of Labor Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy emphasized that the cooperative relationship between the Vietnam Trade Union and the Chinese Trade Union is increasingly developing, contributing to promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

On this occasion, the City Labor Federation expressed its wish to continue receiving attention from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Chinese General Confederation of Labor, especially in strengthening cooperation with the Beijing General Confederation of Labor. The cooperation focuses on the following areas: caring for union members' lives, exchanging welfare models; training union officials; cultural and sports exchanges; sharing experiences in inspection, supervision, and applying technology to management.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Liu Fei sincerely thanked the Hanoi City Labor Federation for its welcome and congratulated the achievements, especially in the organization and arrangement of the apparatus. He emphasized that the activities of Chinese and Vietnamese trade unions have many similarities, both focusing on building a team of skilled workers and implementing emulation movements to encourage creativity and dedication of workers.

Mr. Liu Fei said that the China General Confederation of Labor proactively coordinates with legislative bodies to formulate policies related to workers; coordinates with judicial bodies to support dispute resolution; and actively monitors policy implementation. He expressed his hope that both sides will promote exchanges, share experiences and good models to improve the effectiveness of trade union activities.

At the meeting, leaders of the Hanoi City Labor Federation, the delegation of the China General Confederation of Labor and Longcheer Meiko Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. exchanged and shared information on union activities, contributing to clarifying issues of mutual concern.

The work of developing the Trade Union organization is focused: in 2025, 50 grassroots Trade Unions were established, developing more than 10,000 union members; 30 training courses were organized for over 3,000 cadres. Inspection and supervision work was also strengthened with more than 2,000 inspections of the Trade Union Charter and 2,500 inspections of financial management, ensuring transparency.
