Japanese tech giant NTT Data will partner with Google to develop and market Artificial Intelligence (AI) agents capable of performing marketing and other tasks on behalf of humans, using the US tech company's generative AI.
NTT Data recently signed a global strategic partnership agreement with Google's cloud computing division, which provides services to enterprise customers.
As the first Japanese company to sign this contract with Google Cloud, NTT Data will establish an organization of thousands of experts to promote business in more than 50 countries and regions.
A limited number of IT companies have signed global partnerships with Google Cloud, including Accenture and Deloitte.
NTT Data will start by developing and marketing AI agents using Google technology. An AI agent is a system that can automatically solve complex tasks by learning from data from business customers.
For example, AI agents can automatically answer calls to a call center and build optimal marketing strategies by analyzing past business transaction data.
The Japanese IT services giant will use Google's Gemini AI platform to develop more than 50 AI agents tailored for specific sales and marketing activities.
The company will also customize these agents based on business practices and regulations in various regions across the country.
NTT Data will build the infrastructure for the safe use of AI agents. Generative AI - the foundation of AI agents - typically operates on an external cloud platform and is used by many companies.
As a result, there is concern that AI could inadvertently use important information provided by one customer to provide solutions to another.
To prevent data leaks, NTT Data will install infrastructure similar to Google's cloud system at global group call centers and customer company operations, and operate AI agents at these locations.
The company's experts will be responsible for operating and managing these AI infrastructures and agents.
In May 2025, NTT Data began marketing AI services developed by OpenAI to domestic and foreign companies. The company has also partnered with Oracle and will start a service to store customer data on servers in Japan in December.
MarketsandMarkets (India) research company forecasts that the global AI agent market will reach 52.6 billion USD by 2030, a 10-fold increase compared to 2024./.
