Security sources say an Israeli airstrike killed two Lebanese citizens in the south of the country.
Hezbollah said it responded to the Israeli airstrike by launching dozens of rockets at the border town of Kiryat Shmona, in northern Israel.
Earlier in the day, Hezbollah also launched several attacks on Israeli military positions along the border.
The Israeli military said four soldiers were injured, one seriously, after its air defenses intercepted most of “about 15 rockets” believed to have been launched from Lebanon.
Recently, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah announced that if the ceasefire negotiations between Hamas and Israel reach an agreement, Hezbollah will stop operations without further separate negotiations.
Hezbollah leader said that Hamas is conducting ceasefire negotiations in Gaza on behalf of the entire "coalition" of Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthi and militant groups in Iraq and Syria.
In the event of no agreement, the Hezbollah leader said the force is ready for war, with evidence being missile and drone attacks on Israel over the past period.
The Israeli military has launched an offensive in the Gaza Strip against the Islamist Hamas movement after the militant group's surprise raid on southern Israeli villages on October 7, 2023, which left more than 1,100 Jews dead. Hamas gunmen also took hundreds of hostages and brought them to Gaza.
So far, more than 37,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's retaliatory military campaign against Hamas in Gaza.
