The conference had 8 presentations discussing the results of promoting the role of the elderly in the movement of building cultural families, contributing to building elegant and civilized Hanoians in Bach Mai ward; advantages and difficulties of the elderly in deploying and implementing the set of criteria for family conduct; recommendations and proposals for all levels to support the elderly in promoting their role in building and developing family culture in sports and tourism ; suggestions for building good models suitable for the topic.

Mr. Vo Duy Cu (Elderly Association No. 9, Hai Ba Trung Ward) believes that it is necessary to always consolidate and strengthen solidarity within the Elderly Association and the residential community. In the family, grandparents and parents must be truly exemplary in all aspects, truly a shining example for their children and grandchildren to follow. In particular, he believes that reading and learning through books is very beneficial, so he suggests that each family should have a bookshelf, choosing books suitable for each age group to build.

Ms. Le Thi Luyen (Association 18 of the old Vinh Tuy Ward) said that the association always focuses on encouraging members to set an example and remind their children and grandchildren to perform civilized weddings and funerals in the locality. Thanks to that, up to now, funerals have been performed with cremation rituals, and over 85% of elderly families have achieved the title of "Cultural Family". "Many elderly families have three or four generations living together but are still united, and their children are filial and respectful to their grandparents and parents. Thereby, the role of the elderly in building a cultural lifestyle in the community has been promoted..."

Speaking at the program, Head of the Department of Cultural and Family Lifestyle (Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports) Bui Minh Hoang highly appreciated the two topics chaired by the Association of the Elderly, which were very accurate, correct, and suitable for the role of the elderly, suitable for the new era.

Emphasizing that building elegant and civilized Hanoians is an important task of the city, comrade Bui Minh Hoang requested the Association of the Elderly to actively do a good job of propaganda work; advise and propose to relevant departments and branches, promote the role of the elderly, and well implement the topics that have been developed.

Receiving opinions at the conference, Chairman of the Hanoi City Elderly Association Nguyen The Toan respectfully thanked and highly appreciated the solutions and suggestions for building models such as: Family bookcase, Solidarity meal in urban areas, Organizing travel together, Intergenerational club...; From there, helping the City Elderly Association have a synthesis to report to the City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to pay attention and replicate good models.

Comrade Nguyen The Toan also requested that the associations and branches closely follow the thematic content, focus on the cause of building and developing Hanoi people; promote their position, role, prestige and exemplary role in the family and community, build "Elegant and civilized Hanoians". At the same time, closely follow the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels, proactively advise, propose and develop action plans and programs associated with political tasks, socio-economic development goals and local movements, in order to well perform the tasks assigned by the Party and State.
