According to Aftonbladet (Sweden) and AS (Spain), the board of directors of Al Nassr Club has officially fired coach Stefano Pioli, who signed a contract until 2027.
The official reason was not announced, but most media believe that coach Pioli was fired because of disagreement with Ronaldo.
The conflict between the two began when Pioli took Ronaldo off the field during the 3-1 win over Al‑Kholood in mid-March. CR7 left the field in anger and went straight down the tunnel, causing tension between the two.
Ronaldo believes that coach Pioli's personnel decisions caused Al Nassr to lose many matches, especially in matches where the Portuguese superstar failed to score.
By the end of this season, coach Pioli even "confined" Ronaldo to the bench in some domestic matches. That decision of the Italian strategist further clarified the tense relationship between the two.
Not only dissatisfied with coach Pioli, Ronaldo also made a direct request to the Al Nassr board of directors to sell some unsuitable players. This list includes goalkeeper Bento, defender Aymeric Laporte, midfielder Angelo Gabriel and striker Wesley, all of whom are expensive foreign players.
Around April, the media was sure that Ronaldo would leave Al Nassr because of conflicts with too many people. Especially when his contract was also due to expire at the end of June.
But then a few weeks ago, Ronaldo suddenly announced that he "will not change teams next season", meaning he will soon sign a new contract.
Indeed, not long after Ronaldo's announcement, Al Nassr announced the dismissal of coach Pioli. The Italian strategist receives a salary of up to 20 million euros/year, and still has 2 years left on his contract. It is likely that Al Nassr will have to spend a lot of money to meet Ronaldo's demands.
Pioli, 59, had a successful period as coach of Juventus and AC Milan. But when he took over as coach of Al Nassr, the Italian strategist was unable to bring Ronaldo and the stars to success.
This season, Al Nassr continued to be empty-handed, they even only finished 3rd in the Saudi Pro League.
