Ho Chi Minh City students set up a zero-cost book stall to support disadvantaged students at the beginning of the new school year.

The zero-dong booth opened at Ernst Thälmann High School library, with the desire to support students in difficult circumstances, helping those with limited conditions to access free textbooks and learning materials, thereby reducing the financial burden on their families.

After launching the program, the school library received more than 30 sets of books from different grades such as: specialized books, exercise books and textbooks for all school subjects.

In addition, the library also receives additional books from 11th and 12th grade students and from new students transferring to the school.

Mr. Nguyen Hung Khuong, principal of Ernst Thälmann High School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), said that the school wants to spread love and solidarity among students.

"The booth encourages sharing and mutual support among students, creating a close-knit and caring learning community.

"Help students save on study costs by sharing old books and giving new books. At the same time, contribute to building a frugal lifestyle and raising awareness of environmental protection," said Mr. Khuong.

He also believes that through this activity, a culture of giving and receiving love will be formed in students. The booth is not only a place to exchange books but also an educational activity about compassion, sharing and community responsibility.

In the near future, the school library will continue to maintain the activity of Giving Books and Receiving Love, in addition to organizing workshops on making learning tools and recycled paper lanterns for Mid-Autumn Festival. In addition, it will also give books to students in orphanages such as: Dieu Giac (Thu Duc City), Tam Duc Shelter (District 4)...

Student Hoang Phuong Thao (grade 12A3) said she has contributed more than 10 different books and also called on her friends to support her.

"When I heard that the school had a zero-cost book donation booth, I called on 20 friends to send new books and study materials to the library.

I find this activity interesting and meaningful, creating a positive atmosphere in the school environment. I really like this activity, it inspires those who like to give. We can help people not through money or expensive materials, but in the simplest way" - Thao said.

Nguyen Hao Nhien (11A9 student) shared: "This morning I chose for myself textbooks for literature and English. This activity is very meaningful, it can support students who have difficulty in buying books."
