Creative contest with old books and newspapers

With the meaning of protecting the environment through recycling old books and newspapers, creating decorative products, applying them to study and life, on September 26, in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Provincial Library organized a Creativity Contest with old books and newspapers.

The contest attracted the participation of more than 300 candidates who are primary and secondary school students in the province.

At the contest, more than 300 contestants, who are primary and secondary school students in the province, directly made models and products from old books and newspapers and briefly presented their ideas for the work. 6 contestants with the most creative works were selected to the next round to continue explaining the meaning of the product. The Organizing Committee awarded 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes and 94 consolation prizes to outstanding contestants.

Each product at the contest demonstrated the passion and enthusiasm of the students and spread the message of "protecting the environment, recycling resources and preserving the green planet", thereby encouraging people to use resources economically and effectively, towards a sustainable lifestyle.

The contest has created an environment for exchange and learning among students; facilitated the reuse of books, contributed to the creation of cultural beauty, promoted reading habits, and nurtured a love of books. Thereby, raising awareness of the political system and all classes of people about the role and importance of books and newspapers in social life.

First prize went to contestant Nguyen Phuong Uyen, Dong Xa Primary School (Van Don district) with a model of a fishing boat overcoming storm Yagi .

In recent times, Quang Ninh Provincial Library has organized many activities with rich, diverse and attractive content and forms; especially focusing on developing reading culture for young readers, contributing to educating and orienting their personality and spiritual life.
