More than 1,000 teachers were awarded the title of Excellent Teacher.

In August 2023, the 16th State Council for considering and awarding the titles of People's Teacher and Meritorious Teacher organized a public consultation with 1,201 candidates requesting to be awarded the title of Meritorious Teacher.

Compared to the initial nomination, there were 170 teachers, lecturers, and educational administrators who did not meet the criteria for consideration, while 1,031 individuals were awarded the title of Excellent Teacher by the President's decision.

Meritorious Teacher is a noble title, demonstrating the State's recognition of teachers, staff and officials who have made outstanding contributions to the nation's education and training.

To meet the criteria for recognition as an Excellent Teacher, teachers need to have good moral qualities, enthusiasm, dedication to the profession, be a shining example, exemplary, typical, excellent, and have a wide influence in the industry and society. Teachers are respected by students, colleagues and people, take the lead in innovating educational management, teaching methods and testing and evaluation; manage and teach with high quality and efficiency.

Teachers also need to ensure one of the following conditions: 7 times awarded the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level or the title of excellent teacher or lecturer, 1 time awarded the title of Emulation Fighter at the provincial or ministerial level or the title of excellent teacher or lecturer at the provincial or ministerial level, 1 time awarded a certificate of merit at the provincial or ministerial level.

Teachers and educational managers in especially difficult areas and poor districts need to meet the requirements of being awarded the title of Emulation Fighter or Excellent Teacher five times.

In addition, teachers must have at least 15 years of direct teaching experience. Educational administrators must have at least 20 years of working experience in the industry, including at least 10 years of direct teaching experience.

Individuals awarded the title of Excellent Teacher must ensure compliance with regulations under Decree No. 27/2015/ND-CP dated March 10, 2015.

In August 2023, the 16th State Council for considering the awarding of the title of People's Teacher and Excellent Teacher organized a public consultation on 1,225 candidates. Of these, 24 teachers proposed to be awarded the title of People's Teacher, and 1,201 teachers proposed to be awarded the title of Excellent Teacher.
