More than 100,000 computers in Vietnam are infected with malware that steals Facebook accounts.

Experts have just discovered a type of malware called Facebookie that is spreading rapidly with the ability to steal Facebook accounts. In Vietnam, more than 100,000 computers have been infected with this malware.

Accordingly, a malware code called Facebookie has just been discovered by experts from security research firm Palo Alto Networks (USA), it targets computer users running Windows operating system.

Facebookie malware is designed to hijack Facebook accounts as well as steal cryptocurrency from users' MetaMask wallets.

According to Palo Alto Networks, Facebookie's source code contains Vietnamese content, but it is unclear whether this malware originated in Vietnam or not.

The variables in the source code are named in Vietnamese, making security experts suspect that Facebookie originated from Vietnam.

Hackers will insert Facebookie malware into free software or software cracking tools... then spread it on the internet to trick users into downloading it to their computers.

Thanks to this malware, hackers can steal login information on victims' Facebook accounts. In particular, Facebookie malware is also designed to steal Facebook Business accounts - accounts used to manage fanpages, run advertising campaigns on Facebook...

After successfully taking over a Facebook Business account, hackers will use this account to order advertising content for themselves without the victim knowing.

Not only does this cause financial damage to victims, it also causes Facebook Business accounts to be locked if hackers run advertising campaigns that violate Facebook's policies.

According to the cybersecurity company Bkav, the Facebookie malware that steals Facebook accounts is showing signs of spreading strongly in Vietnam. It is estimated that in July, more than 100,000 computers running Windows operating system were infected with this malware.

Most Windows security software can now detect and block this type of malware before it infects your computer.

But users also need to be more vigilant to prevent being infected with other dangerous malware in the future. Bkav experts have given some advice to reduce the risk of malware infection as follows:

You should not install and use crack software, keygen… to crack software copyright. Because most of these tools contain malicious code inside.

Limit the use of password saving function on web browsers, especially for important accounts.

You should use anti-virus software or network security software to ensure the safety of personal computers as well as systems in agencies, organizations and businesses.
