The People's Committee of Cu Kuin district said that from August 21, 2023 to now, the authorities in the district have destroyed 205 sick pigs, with a total weight of 11,448 kg.
Specifically, from August 21, 2023 to now, there have been 14 outbreaks of African swine fever in 4 communes (Ea Bhok, Ea Hu, Ea Ktur, Hoa Hiep) in the district, the threatened areas are 4 communes (Cu Ewi, Ea Ning, Ea Tieu and Dray Bhang) , forcing the destruction of 205 pigs, with a total destroyed weight of 11,448 kg.

Faced with the above situation, the People's Committee of Cu Kuin district issued a Decision to declare an outbreak of African swine fever in the district.
The epidemic is on the rise, negatively affecting the pig farming industry and ensuring food supply. In order to prevent, combat and control African swine fever in a timely and effective manner, ensuring pork supply in the coming time, especially during the Lunar New Year 2024, the District People's Committee has directed the district's specialized agencies to coordinate with commune-level localities to establish inspection teams, guide and urge the implementation of African swine fever prevention and control; proactively and closely monitor the epidemic situation, ensure early detection, warning and direct thorough handling of outbreaks, and prevent the epidemic from spreading widely... At the same time, allocate funds to prevent and combat African swine fever in the district in accordance with regulations.
The District People's Committee also requested localities and livestock households to promptly detect, prevent and resolutely handle cases of buying, selling, transporting sick pigs, and dumping dead pigs, causing disease spread and environmental pollution.
In addition, guide livestock farmers to increase the use of hygiene and disinfection measures with lime powder and chemicals in high-risk barns and surrounding areas; promote biosafety in livestock farming, and build disease-free livestock facilities and areas.
At the same time, relevant units and localities continue to monitor livestock households, promptly take samples for testing at households with sick, dead, or suspected pigs; promptly synthesize and report on the disease situation and prevention and control work in the district; strengthen quarantine of transportation and circulation, resolutely and strictly handle cases of transporting pigs of unknown origin according to regulations...
