Mr. Van Anh Tuan - Secretary of Nui Thanh District Party Committee said that exactly 50 years ago, on March 24, 1975, all over the southern villages of Quang Nam province were filled with flags and flowers and indescribable joy when the homeland was completely liberated; from then on, we followed the offensive and uprising of our army and people to completely liberate the South and unify the country on April 30, 1975.
The southern region of Quang Nam faced many difficulties due to the heavy consequences of war. In December 1983, Nui Thanh district was established on the basis of separation from Tam Ky district. At that time, the physical infrastructure was still difficult.
By 2003, Quang Nam province was assigned by the Party and the State to build the first Open Economic Zone in the country. Chu Lai - Nui Thanh was quickly built and developed into a key economic zone of the Central region. The advantage of having a seaport, airport, railway, and road has created conditions for Chu Lai - Nui Thanh to affirm that it has enough conditions to integrate and develop. After 50 years of complete liberation of the homeland, along with the development of Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, the appearance of Nui Thanh villages has improved, gradually becoming the urban center of southern Quang Nam.
From a purely agricultural district, Nui Thanh has transformed its agricultural economic structure to develop industry, services and trade as the main economic sectors. Up to now, in Nui Thanh district, there are 5 industrial parks, 3 industrial clusters with 142 enterprises investing more than 62,140 billion VND, creating jobs for more than 30,000 workers.
Nui Thanh has grown strongly, becoming a dynamic economic zone and key industrial zone of Quang Nam. In 2024, the total production value will reach more than 88,400 billion VND; of which, industry - construction accounts for 76.8%, services account for 15.1%.
Ky Ha seaport, Chu Lai - Truong Hai port, Chu Lai airport, Tam Quang fishing port, central markets, Vo Chi Cong road connecting Tam Ky - Chu Lai, traffic routes from the district center to the communes have been invested in and built to connect traffic smoothly. Agricultural and rural infrastructure has been invested, irrigation dams and canals have been built, ensuring more than 90% of the cultivated area has proactive water supply. The capacity to exploit and catch aquatic products has continuously increased in quantity, quality and value.
The power grid is built everywhere, 100% of households have their electricity needs met. Tam Hiep residential areas, 617 residential areas, Tram market, Nui Thanh town, Tam Anh Nam, Tam Nghia... are formed and developed according to the urban model. Nui Thanh urban area is increasingly spacious and clean. The district invests in upgrading and expanding the center of Nui Thanh town, building a central square, a park area. Many schools, hospitals, medical stations, and offices are solidly built... In 2024, Nui Thanh had 15/15 communes meeting new rural standards, 4 communes meeting advanced new rural standards.
Culture and society have many positive changes; Party building and rectification work has achieved many important results. Up to now, the entire Party Committee of Nui Thanh district has more than 5,466 party members with 56 grassroots party organizations. In the process of formation, construction and development, the Party Committee of Nui Thanh district has always focused on building a strong Party Committee in terms of politics, ideology, ethics, organization, etc.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung said that, on the basis of promoting the heroic tradition of the homeland and the achievements that have been achieved, Nui Thanh needs to continue to exploit to the maximum the internal strength, advantages and potential of Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, the southern economic driving force of the province. Together with other resources, focus on synchronously building urban infrastructure, accelerating economic growth to soon achieve the goal of modern and civilized industry and urbanization.
Nui Thanh needs to strengthen the management of natural resources and environmental protection in conjunction with promoting green growth, urbanization development and new rural construction. The locality needs to pay attention to comprehensive development of cultural and social fields, training high-quality human resources, creating jobs, sustainably reducing poverty, improving and enhancing people's lives, and implementing social security policies well.
