Israeli army chief of staff Herzi Halevi told soldiers on September 25 that airstrikes in Lebanon were aimed at destroying Hezbollah's infrastructure and paving the way for the possible introduction of ground forces, according to CNN.

"You heard the planes flying overhead, we have been attacking all day. This is all preparation for the possibility of bringing you over and to continue to weaken Hezbollah," Mr. Halevi told soldiers in northern Israel bordering Lebanon.

The goal of Israel's operation is to help tens of thousands of people return to their homes in the north who were previously displaced by attacks from the north.

"To achieve that, we are preparing the deployment process. That means your footprints will enter enemy territory, into villages where Hezbollah has prepared large military facilities," said Mr. Halevi, confident that the opponent will face a professional, highly skilled and experienced force on the battlefield.
