On September 2, the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced that it had successfully launched its latest spy satellite, Ofek 19, from a secret location.
The advanced spy satellite was built by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), a leading state-owned enterprise in the fields of defense and aerospace technology.
In a press release, the Israeli Ministry of Defense said Ofek 19 is an observation satellite using modern synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology, upgraded with many advanced features.
After entering Earth orbit, the satellite will undergo a series of tests to evaluate its stability and performance.
In 1988, Israel launched its first Ofek-1 spy satellite into space and it was not until 1995 that the country launched its second surveillance satellite into orbit.
These satellites are designed for surveillance purposes, intelligence gathering and military capability enhancement./.
