General Secretary: Vietnam always considers the United States a partner of strategic importance

General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam wishes to continue to develop the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the United States in an increasingly substantive and in-depth direction.

On the afternoon of September 29, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper.

At the meeting, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the progress in the bilateral relationship in all fields, with many positive results, especially in the context that the two countries are carrying out many practical activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and 2 years of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Exchanging information on the major and important orientations of the Party and State of Vietnam in socio-economic management, law enforcement and promoting international economic integration in recent times, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam always considers the United States a partner of strategic importance, and wishes to continue to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the United States in an increasingly substantive and in-depth direction, enhancing strategic content in cooperation fields, on the basis of the basic principles of respecting each other's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political institutions, in line with Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization.

Acknowledging the positive and substantive development of the bilateral relationship on bilateral, regional and international levels, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has become a model in international relations, increasingly proving that countries can overcome the past to build a future of good cooperation and friendship, on the basis of building trust, mutual respect and sharing common interests.

Stressing that 2025 is an important year, marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-US diplomatic relations, General Secretary To Lam suggested that the two sides continue to coordinate effectively in implementing the agenda, promoting mutual visits at all levels, and jointly promoting peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

General Secretary To Lam acknowledged the efforts of Ambassador Marc E. Knapper and the staff of the US Embassy in promoting and effectively implementing high-level agreements and cooperation contents within the framework of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in all fields such as politics-foreign affairs, economics-trade-investment, defense-security, humanitarian cooperation and overcoming war consequences...

Emphasizing that Vietnam identifies the private sector as the most important driving force of the economy, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam will continue to create a favorable investment environment for US businesses to invest in Vietnam and encourage Vietnamese businesses to invest in the US, bringing benefits and creating many jobs for the people of both countries.

Affirming that science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation are the top important breakthroughs to achieve strategic growth goals, General Secretary To Lam suggested that the two sides continue to promote cooperation in key and high-priority areas such as science and technology, semiconductor industry, energy industry and digital transformation, while creating conditions for Vietnam to purchase high-tech goods and promote the transfer of advanced technology from the United States.

Ambassador Marc E. Knapper expressed his honor to meet General Secretary To Lam again, and sent his congratulations to the Party, State and People of Vietnam on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day, as expressed in the message conveyed by the Ambassador when visiting House 48 Hang Ngang, where President Ho Chi Minh wrote the Declaration of Independence in 1945, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. The Ambassador affirmed that the attention and support of the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam and the coordination of ministries and branches are a great source of encouragement and motivation to promote the good development of Vietnam-US relations in the past time and in the coming years.

Ambassador Marc E. Knapper also affirmed that the Trump Administration highly values ​​the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and hopes that the two countries will continue to strengthen cooperation, implement it effectively, substantially, and in depth, bringing practical benefits to the people of both countries.

The US Ambassador said that the US highly appreciates Vietnam's independent and self-reliant foreign policy and always supports Vietnam in promoting its growing role and influence in promoting peace and cooperation in the region and the world. The US Ambassador affirmed that a "strong, independent, prosperous, and self-reliant" Vietnam contributes positively to peace and stability in the region and the world and is something the US always supports.

Ambassador Marc E. Knapper especially thanked the close guidance of the Vietnamese Party and State leaders and highly appreciated Vietnam's practical measures over time in promoting harmonious and sustainable trade relations between Vietnam and the United States.

The US Ambassador affirmed that US businesses and partners highly value economic, investment and trade cooperation with Vietnam, in which Vietnam is considered one of the important partners in the global supply chain and the Vietnamese market is opening up many opportunities for US products and services.

US Ambassador Marc E. Knapper sincerely thanked General Secretary To Lam for taking the time to meet him and giving important guidance and orientations on the focus of promoting the Vietnam-US bilateral relationship in the coming time.
