Outstanding results of General Secretary and President To Lam's visit to China

(VTC News) – The visit of General Secretary and President To Lam was a great success, contributing significantly to promoting the building of a community of shared future between Vietnam and China.

At the regular press conference held this afternoon, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang highlighted the results of the recent State visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam.

The spokesman affirmed that the visit was successful in all aspects, making an important contribution to promoting the building of the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future, which has strategic significance and contributes to peace , stability and development in the region and the world.

The two sides issued a joint statement on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to promote the building of a Vietnam-China community of shared future.

Ms. Hang also emphasized some highlights of the visit. Firstly, the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries affirmed the importance of bilateral relations, considered the priority of developing relations between the two Parties and two countries as a strategic choice; and affirmed to support each other in successfully achieving national development goals.

The two sides agreed to continue to effectively implement the high-level common perceptions reached between the leaders of the two Parties and the two countries during recent visits and further strengthen the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, promoting the building of a community of shared future between Vietnam and China in the "6+ direction".

Specifically, higher political trust; more substantial security and defense cooperation; deeper substantive cooperation; a more solid social foundation; closer multilateral coordination; better control and resolution of disagreements, contributing to the bilateral relationship achieving more substantive results, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries, contributing to peace, cooperation and development in the region as well as in the world.

Second, the two sides discussed cooperation orientations in various fields, agreeing to strengthen cooperation in strategic areas such as diplomacy, defense, security, and expand cooperation connecting the “Belt and Road” initiative with the “Two Corridors, One Belt” framework. The two sides agreed to facilitate trade and expand exports of Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products to China.

The two sides encourage and support enterprises with capacity, reputation and advanced technology to invest in the other country and expand cooperation in new areas such as digital economy, circular economy, green development, clean energy and renewable energy.

Third, the two sides agreed to take 2025 as the year of Vietnam-China cultural exchange and jointly organize a series of activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China.

Fourth, the two sides will strengthen multilateral coordination and cooperation in mechanisms such as the United Nations and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC).

Fifth, the two sides deeply exchanged sincere and frank opinions on maritime issues; emphasized the need to better control and actively resolve maritime disputes on the basis of complying with high-level common perceptions, the Agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of maritime issues between Vietnam and China, international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and together maintain peace and stability in the East Sea and the region.

The two sides also agreed to continue to coordinate effectively in implementing legal documents on land borders and related agreements; and to strengthen cooperation in the land border area between Vietnam and China.

On this occasion, ministries, branches and localities of Vietnam and China signed 16 cooperation documents in fields such as: interconnection, industry, testing, customs quarantine, health, press - media, cooperation between localities as well as people's livelihood.
