On September 17, in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), the Malaysia International Halal Exhibition (Mihas) 2025 officially opened and will last until September 20.

The event showcases a wide range of products, from food, household appliances to processing technology, directly serving the needs of the global Halal market. With its scale and reputation, Mihas Exhibition is currently considered the largest specialized exhibition of Islamic products in the world .

Vietnamese enterprises find a place in the Halal value chain

Attending the Malaysia International Halal Exhibition 2025, Mr. Will Tran - representative of Shindo Vietnam Footwear Company - said that the business brought with it the expectation of exploring the market and connecting with partners in the region.

Viet Shindo's current main product is shoes for students, a segment that is considered suitable for the climate and consumer needs in Malaysia.

"The climate of the two countries is similar, so we believe this is a potential market. Participating in this exhibition is first of all to test and evaluate the market's response," said Mr. Will Tran.

According to the company, its biggest advantage is its ability to design and control the entire production process itself, thereby ensuring consistent quality and regularly launching new designs.

"We are confident in competing in the Malaysian market and neighboring countries. The next step is to expand to Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines, countries with large Halal consumer communities. Participating in Mihas 2025 is the first step to connect and test ourselves," said Mr. Will Tran.

Not only shoes, Nhi Thuy handicraft enterprise also brought to the exhibition handbags made entirely by hand. The enterprise representative said that international tourists in general and Muslim tourists in particular often prefer Vietnamese handicrafts.

In recent years, the number of Muslim tourists coming to Ho Chi Minh City has been increasing, concentrating in the Ben Thanh market area. "This is a signal of real demand and the reason for us to bring our products to Malaysia for testing," said representative Nhi Thuy.

By attending Mihas 2025, the company aims to find more distribution partners, instead of just relying on tourists. "Before the pandemic, orders were stable, but after the pandemic, the pace slowed down, so we consider participating in the fair as an opportunity to find a new long-term path," he shared.

One of the key highlights of the event is the International Supply Linkage Program (INSP) coordinated by Matrade, with more than 4,000 business meetings arranged, targeting a transaction value of 2.5 billion ringgit (equivalent to 13,500 billion VND).

Mr. Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, General Director of Matrade, emphasized: "These meetings do not stop at short-term transactions but also open up sustainable cooperation, helping businesses position Halal products as a trusted global brand."

Mihas 2025 is considered an important opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to both grasp new consumption trends and connect with international importers, thereby gradually penetrating deeper into the Halal value chain.

Vietnamese goods have many competitive advantages in the fields of agricultural products, processed foods, natural cosmetics and textiles, which are suitable for Halal consumption needs not only in ASEAN but also in large markets in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.

With more than 2 billion consumers spread across these regions, the Halal market has long been considered the "golden goose" of global trade. However, according to the General Department of Customs, in the first 7 months of 2025, the total two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Muslim countries only reached 24.7 billion USD, an increase of 5.7% over the same period last year.

Of which, Vietnam's exports only stopped at 10.9 billion USD, a modest figure compared to the potential, especially when the global Halal market size has exceeded 2,000 billion USD.
