Kim Long Motor and LG Energy Solution cooperate on battery supply

Kim Long Motor Hue Joint Stock Company and LG Energy Solution, the world's leading Lithium-ion battery manufacturer, have just signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on supplying LG's latest generation of NCM batteries.

The project is expected to come into operation in early 2026, on a scale of 9 hectares with a total investment of 1,200 billion VND, located in Kim Long Motor Hue Industrial Park. Kim Long Motor factory will operate with a comprehensive scope, including stamping, assembly, welding and packaging (battery packs). This will be one of the leading modern battery pack manufacturing and assembly complexes in Vietnam, built according to international standards, applying advanced technology with an automation rate of up to 90%.

In the first phase, the factory is expected to have a capacity of 1 million kWh/year and will continue to expand in the following years. The operation of the factory will not only ensure a supply of high-quality batteries for Kim Long Motor 's electric vehicle lines, but also create a platform for Vietnam to affirm its position in the global value chain of the battery and electric vehicle industry - a strategic sector shaping the future of green transportation and the circular economy worldwide.

Cooperating with LG Energy Solution - the world's leading Lithium-ion battery manufacturer - will help the Company proactively source supplies, optimize costs and control quality, which are important factors contributing to shaping and strongly developing high-quality electric vehicle lines "Made in Vietnam" in the future. Kim Long Motor 's Battery Manufacturing and Assembly Plant, when put into operation, will help achieve the localization target of over 80% in the second quarter of 2026, while contributing to affirming Vietnam's position on the map of the global and regional clean energy industry.”

The cooperation aims to meet the sustainable development trend of the domestic and regional automobile industry.
