To meet the requirements of local economic and social development, on October 25, 1959, the Nghe An Province Association for Science and Technology Dissemination was established. Through the process of formation and development, the science and technology sector has made important contributions to the development of the province.
That is to effectively serve the cause of building socialism in the North and the struggle for national unification; heal the wounds of war; carry out the renovation process. In 1991, Nghe Tinh province was separated, the Science and Technology Committee of Nghe An province was established on August 30, 1991. Since then, the science and technology sector has contributed to the whole province to promote industrialization, modernization, integration and development.

The Minister also requested the sector to continue to promote and improve the PII innovation index of Nghe An. Improve the quality of human resources in science and technology. Continue to thoroughly grasp the viewpoint of "Fast and sustainable economic development based on the foundation of applying science and technology and innovation, digital transformation.

Agreeing with the assessments and directions directed by the leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology, speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung emphasized: Resolution No. 39 of the Politburo on building and developing Nghe An province in the new period has identified the task of "creating a breakthrough in science and technology development". Therefore, the science and technology sector must focus on a number of key tasks. That is, focusing on advising on the effective implementation of directives, resolutions, and conclusions of the Central Government, directions of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the province on science and technology.

| Department of Science and Technology awarded the Nghe An Open Innovation Startup Search Contest 2024 |
Previously, the Department of Science and Technology held the Award Ceremony of the Nghe An Open Innovation Startup Search Competition 2024 with the theme "8-year journey of Techfest Nghe An - Linking development". The Organizing Committee selected 20 projects with the highest scores to enter the final round. Of which, 10 outstanding innovative startup projects were awarded; including 4 Encouragement prizes, 3 Third prizes, 2 Second prizes and 1 First prize. The remaining 10 projects were recognized as Potential Startup Projects.
