Lam Dong propagates laws on drug prevention and control in schools

More than 300 students, teachers, education officers, and local officials listened to a reporter from the Provincial Police Department inform them about drug prevention and control.

On September 18, in Kien Duc commune, the Department of Education and Training (DET) coordinated with Lam Dong Provincial Police to organize a launching ceremony and deploy propaganda and training on law enforcement on drug prevention and control in educational institutions.

At the ceremony, more than 300 students, teachers, education officers, and local officials listened to a reporter from the Provincial Police Department provide information related to four main contents: Characteristics of the drug situation and drug crimes; basic knowledge about drugs; laws on drug prevention and control; and skills to prevent drug use in schools.

Representatives of the Provincial Police attended the launching ceremony of propaganda on drug prevention in schools in Kien Duc commune.

In particular, some information is emphasized on the risks, consequences, and harmful effects of drugs on the community, students, especially synthetic drugs that penetrate and threaten students. Addictive substances, psychotropic substances, and drugs "disguised" as foods, drinks, electronic cigarettes, and new-generation cigarettes in forms such as paper stamps, easily confusing students and making them easy to use.

Authorities have instructed schools, parents, and students on how to recognize and prevent drugs; and organized staff, teachers, and students to sign a commitment not to violate drug laws.

Many students boldly exchanged questions and answers about drug prevention with the reporter at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, informed that the provincial Department of Education and Training currently has 1,605 facilities at all levels in many isolated areas, with over 806,500 students. This is an environment vulnerable to drug infiltration. The Department always identifies the fight against and prevention of drug crimes as an important task.

The Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province is determined not to let drugs enter schools in order to build a safe and healthy school environment. The Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of the province called on all officials, teachers and students in the province to uphold their sense of responsibility, join hands to fight the dangers of drugs.
